The southern region of Serengeti is dominated by the lush grassy plains that draw about two million wildebeest, half a million zebra and some quarter million antelope to make the hazardous journey in search of pasture when the autumn rains come. In most years, the great wildebeest and zebra herds of the migration fill the plains of Ndutu from December to April and it's an incredible spectacle. This is usually when wildebeest give birth, so you'll likely see lots of calves taking their first steps. Watch also for big cats and hyenas on the hunt.
