Day 1

Nairobi- Meru Bandas

Nairobi- Meru Bandas

Early morning depurture from Nairobi and driving through agricultural country up to Chogoria town for lunch. After lunch, we take a drive up to the edge of the bamboo forest where we start our trekking through the dense bamboo forest for a distance of 10 km to the Mt Kenya Bandas; for dinner and overnight camping.

3hrs / 10km walk / 650m ascend.

Day 2

Meru Bandas - Lake Ellis Campsite

Meru Bandas - Lake Ellis Campsite

After breakfast and sorting of porter loads then set off up the mountain. There are beautiful landscapes and scenic views. A slightly longer walk via Lake Ellis gives scenic views of Mugi, Ithanguni and the Giants Billiards Table, trek upstream for about 3 km, the foreground scenery and flora is particularly beautiful. Ypu will have lunch at the banks of the stream have a little breather then trek to the campsite.

Day 3

Lake Ellis Campsite- Lake Michaelson Campsite

Lake Ellis Campsite- Lake Michaelson Campsite

Today, the trek has a high level of difficulty compared to the previous days. You will have an early breakfast and start the trek at 8AM. You will walk a distance of about 10km and gaining an altitude of 650m, the highest altitude on this day is 4200m dropping down the gorges valley to Michelson campsite.

Day 4

Lake Michealson Campsite- Simba Tan Campsite

Lake Michealson Campsite- Simba Tan Campsite

Today, is a short day as you gear up for the summit the next day. You will have brekfast at 830AM then start the hike for a distance of about 5km taking between 4-5hrs. Lunch is served at the camp and later a short walk is optional or just relax to get ready for the summit. Overnight at the Simba Tan camp. (4600m).

Day 5

Simba tan Campsite- Point Lenana - Nairobi

Simba tan Campsite- Point Lenana - Nairobi

You will start the day at 300AM to prepare and have a light bite and hot drink. Leave camp at around 430AM, hike up the steep scree to summit- 4985m above sea level, about 2.5km and taking 2 and a half hours, getting to the peak to catch sunrise. Later on, decent to Sirimon gate through Old Moses for lunch then head back to Nairobi.
Drop-off at the hotel/ pick up point marks the end of the tour.
