Mount Meru

Drive from Arusha to Momela Gate, where you will complete a brief registration before starting the walk. You will be accompanied by fully armed ranger escort for safety, with the possibility of encountering various wild animals along the route, such as zebras, giraffes, monkeys, antelopes, elephants, and buffaloes. Accommodations are in a spacious hut (larger than 3 × 3 m) with comfortable beds, a private toilet, shower, and sink. Staff will manage all camp chores.

Enjoy a short but steep climb from Miriakamba Hut to the saddle below Little Meru, followed by a slow walk along the ridge with spectacular views of the Meru Crater and the impressive Ash Cone. Have lunch at Saddle Hut, followed by a possible short climb to the summit of Little Meru (3,820 m) for superb views just before sunset. Enjoy dinner and your overnight stay at Saddle Hut. Accommodations are in a spacious hut (larger than 3 × 3 m) with comfortable beds, a private toilet, shower, and sink. Staff will manage all camp chores.

Mount Meru

Start early at around 1:30 a.m. for the climb to Rhino Point (3,800 m) and onward to Cobra Point (4,350 m). If conditions allow, continue to the summit (4,566 m) in time for sunrise, with a chance to see Kilimanjaro Peak above the clouds. The final part of the climb follows a spectacular narrow ridgeline between sheer inner cliffs and the sloping outer wall of the crater. Afterward, take a short rest and enjoy brunch at Saddle Hut before descending to Miriakamba Hut. Accommodations are in a spacious hut (larger than 3 × 3 m) with comfortable beds, a private toilet, shower, and sink. Staff will manage all camp chores.

Mount Meru - Arusha

Descend quickly from Miriakamba Hut through open grassland and mixed forest, with the possibility of encountering wildlife along the way before reaching Momella Gate in the late morning. A transfer vehicle will be waiting at Momella Gate to pick you up, concluding the trek before you return to Arusha for a well-deserved rest.
