Day 1

Ngorongoro national park

Ngorongoro national park

In the morning, you'll take a flight from Dar es Salaam to Arusha, where you'll meet and embark on a scenic drive to Ngorongoro Crater, which is approximately a 2-hour journey. Often hailed as the eighth Natural Wonder of the World, the Ngorongoro Crater stands as the largest intact crater globally.

Approximately 2 million years ago, the Ngorongoro volcano erupted, leading to the collapse of its walls. This event resulted in the formation of a natural enclosure with towering walls reaching 600 meters high. Today, spanning over 19 kilometers wide, the Ngorongoro Crater is adorned with vast expanses of acacia forest, hippo-filled swamps, and sprawling grasslands.

Within these diverse habitats thrive over 30,000 animals, including elephants, warthogs, flamingoes, a spectacular array of birdlife, the elusive black rhinoceros, and all species of predatory cats. Witness the pastoral Maasai communities tending to their cattle alongside the buffalo and wildebeest.

Tarangire national park

Tarangire national park

Following breakfast, you'll embark on an exhilarating game drive through Tarangire National Park, spanning an expansive area of nearly 3,000 square kilometers. This park is renowned for its remarkable elephant populations and iconic baobab trees, with its name stemming from the meandering Tarangire River that elegantly winds through its landscape.

Tarangire truly flourishes during the dry season (June - November), boasting wildlife concentrations that rival even the renowned Serengeti. During this time, vast herds of elephants and various other animals gather around the Tarangire River, their primary water source. The park's diverse habitats and the perpetual flow of the Tarangire River have established it as a sanctuary for over 2,000 elephants and an astonishing 500 bird species.

As the day progresses, your journey continues with a return to Arusha, followed by a transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your flight back to Dar es Salaam.
