You will depart from Dar es Salaam at about 7 am. The drive to Mikumi via Morogoro is 300km on a tarmac road. In Morogoro town, a commercial hub, you will have a 30-minute lunch break and then proceed to the park.

On your way to Mikumi, you will spot the first animals like baboons, giraffes, elephants, zebras, and buffaloes from the main road which leads through the entrance gate of the national park. After checking in at the park, you will proceed with game viewing to the plains for lions, elephants, elands, warthogs, as well as hippos, crocodiles, and some aquatic birds at the Hippo Pools. Leopards are also seen in this park. This park is unique in the presence of baobab trees. Due to its rich habitat, more than 400 bird species can be spotted in the park.

You'll continue on the game drive until sunset when you will drive to Bastian Camp (or similar) for dinner and an overnight stay. The camp is located outside of the park, only 5 minutes from the border.
