Ol Doinyo Lengai, dubbed the "Mountain of God" by the Maasai, erupted last in 2008. Its lava, flowing at around 510°C, is unique for its black appearance in sunlight due to its low temperature. The Maasai hold it sacred, praying for rain and blessings. The lava's rapid cooling results in a distinctive landscape as it transitions from black to gray quickly.
