When you arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport our Maramatta safaris guide will be there waiting for you. He will drop you off at your hotel, where you can relax from your flight.
Preparation for your climb: You will meet your guide before the beginning of your climb. He will brief you and give you details, like what to wear, what to put in your backpack and other important tips to make the climb as comfortable as possible for you.

Day 2
Nale Moru to Simba Camp
Nale Moru to Simba Camp
The adventure beings with the drive through villages and coffee plantations to the remarkable wooden village of Nale Moru. On the northeast side of the mountain where you meet the porters. The first part of the trail leads through moist rainforest, which quickly becomes lighter on the dry north side. Soon you will reach the heather zone. Overnight in the First Cave Camp (Simba Camp) in the tent at about 9,300 ft altitude. Simba Camp is located close to First Cave, with a magnificent view out over the plains of Kenya.

Day 3
Simba Camp to Kikelelwa camp

Today’s stage begins with a steady morning climb toward Second Cave. The route crosses an extended stretch of heath, characterized by heather, wildflowers, and rocky paths. Along the way, enjoy spectacular views of Kibo and the east-facing glaciers along the crater rim.
After lunch, leave the main trail and follow a narrower path toward the jagged peaks of Mawenzi. The day ends at Second Cave, nestled in a sheltered valley near Kikelelwa Caves and surrounded by giant senecio plants.

Today’s stage takes you to Mawenzi Tarn Hut. Following a short but steep climb up grassy mountainside, you can enjoy a fantastic panoramic view as your reward. The heathland gives way to rocky highlands, littered with large and small volcanic boulders that testify to a previous period of volcanic activity. After a couple more hours on the trail, you will reach the site of your overnight accommodation, which enjoys a spectacular location, nestling in a valley between the towering spires of Mawenzi.

Day 5
Mawenzi Tarn Hut- Kibo Hut

Today’s trek takes you across the striking, almost lunar landscape of The Saddle, the broad desert-like expanse linking Mawenzi and Kibo. You will continue toward Kibo Huts, situated at the foot of Kibo’s crater wall.
On arrival, take time to prepare your equipment and warm clothing for the following day’s summit attempt. Be sure to keep your drinking water in a Thermos to help prevent it from freezing overnight. The remainder of the day is dedicated to rest and recovery, with an early bedtime to ensure you are well rested for Kilimanjaro’s ultimate challenge.

Day 6
Kibo Camp - Gilman's Point- Uhuru Peak- Horombo Hut

You will be woken around midnight for a light meal before beginning the summit ascent. The challenging terrain and loose stones make this the toughest part of the climb. Your goal is to reach Gilman’s Point at dawn, then continue along the crater rim to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa at 5,895 m. After celebrating at the summit and enjoying the views, descend to Kibo Huts for lunch before continuing to Horombo Huts for a well-earned rest.

Day 7

Today is the last day on the mountain. The descent to Marangu Gate will take about six hours. Here, the crew will say farewell, and the transfer driver will wait. At the hotel, cold drinks will be staying, too. You will undoubtedly enjoy a shower and a swim before sitting down for supper to celebrate your adventure.

Finally, this is the end of your holiday and the time to go home has arrived. Enjoy your last hours in Tanzania before our driver comes to pick you up and takes you to Kilimanjaro International Airport for departure. Still longing for more?
