Arusha to Tarangire NP

Arusha to Tarangire NP

Start your safari adventure with a morning pickup from your Arusha hotel or airport. Embark on a scenic drive across the Maasai Steppe toward Tarangire National Park, famous for its iconic baobab trees, picturesque acacia woodlands, and massive elephant herds. Upon arrival, enter the park for an exciting full-day game drive along the Tarangire River, the area’s primary water source during dry seasons. Watch closely as large herds of elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, and impalas gather near the riverbanks, constantly monitored by predators like lions and leopards. Enjoy a picnic lunch at a scenic overlook inside the park while taking in sweeping wilderness views. In the late afternoon, continue wildlife tracking before exiting the park gates and driving to Mto wa Mbu. Arrive at Fig Tree Lodge and Camp, a budget accommodation where you can unpack, unwind, and enjoy a delicious dinner served on-site before resting for the next day's adventure.

Descend 600 meters into the crater floor, a UNESCO World Heritage Site recognized as the world's largest intact volcanic caldera. Spend the morning exploring a high concentration of wildlife thriving within this enclosed ecosystem. Search for the legendary Big 5—lions, African elephants, Cape buffalos, leopards, and the endangered black rhino. Experience breathtaking landscapes ranging from dense acacia forests to open savannas and soda lakes filled with flamingos. Break for a picnic lunch at the famous Hippo Pool, watching hippopotamuses lounge in the water just meters away. In the afternoon, complete a final game drive before ascending the steep crater rim.
