Nairobi to Masai Mara National Reserve

Your adventure begins with a departure from Nairobi, winding down the dramatic escarpment of the Great Rift Valley, where you'll pause to take in the breathtaking panoramic views. As you traverse the Maasai plains, the urban landscape gives way to vast open spaces and traditional homesteads. You will arrive at Enkorok Mara Lodge in time for a warm welcome and a late lunch. After a brief rest, head out for your first introductory game drive. As the heat of the day fades, the predators begin to stir; keep your eyes peeled for pride of lions awakening for their nightly hunt. Return to the lodge for a sundowner and a buffet dinner. Masai Mara National Reserve

The day begins before the sun touches the horizon. With a packed breakfast in hand, you will head deep into the reserve to catch the wildlife at its most active. This is the best time to spot the "Big Five" — lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhino. You'll spend the morning traversing the Talek and Mara River regions, where pods of hippos bask in the water and crocodiles lie in wait along the banks. After a picnic lunch under the shade of a lonely acacia tree, continue your exploration across the rolling plains, observing the intricate social structures of giraffes and the vast herds of wildebeest and zebra. As the sun sets, return to the lodge for an evening of storytelling by the campfire. Overnight: Enkorok Mara Camp.

Breakfast followed by a check out and have the opportunity to visit a traditional Maasai village. Bid farewell to the Mara as you begin your journey back to Nairobi, arriving in the late afternoon with memories (and memory cards) full of African magic.
