Make your way to Lake Natron
Make your way to Lake Natron
After a delicious breakfast at the lodge, you will set off on a scenic drive through northern Tanzania toward Lake Natron. As you leave behind the green landscapes of the Rift Valley, the terrain shifts to dry, open plains dotted with traditional Maasai villages.
The scenery becomes more dramatic as you approach the north, with ancient volcanic formations rising in the distance — including the striking Ol Doinyo Lengai, the sacred “Mountain of God.” If skies are clear, you may even catch a glimpse of smoke drifting from its peak.
On arrival at Lake Natron, you’ll be met by its surreal beauty. The lake’s red and pink tones and its importance as a flamingo breeding site make it a truly unforgettable destination.
In the evening, unwind at the lodge, where you will enjoy a peaceful night’s rest after a day filled with adventure and awe-inspiring views.

Day 3
Morning Flamingo Walk and Return Journey to Arusha
Morning Flamingo Walk and Return Journey to Arusha
Start your morning with a guided walk along the shores of Lake Natron, led by a knowledgeable Maasai guide. This otherworldly lake is the primary breeding ground for lesser flamingos in East Africa, with millions gathering here during the season. You may witness the incredible sight of flamingos nesting and hatching along the vibrant red and pink lake shores.
As you explore, you will learn about the lake’s extreme conditions — from its high alkalinity to its salty shallows — and how only a few species, like the flamingos, have adapted to survive here. It’s a fascinating look into one of Africa’s most unique ecosystems, and a great opportunity for birdwatching and photography.
After the walk, return to your lodge, check out, and enjoy a packed lunch before beginning the scenic road trip back to Arusha, reflecting on the unforgettable landscapes and wildlife encounters from your journey.
