Maasai village visit
Maasai village visit
After your delicious breakfast, you will leave and head to Mto wa Mbu. Upon arrival, you'll typically be greeted by Maasai warriors and women. This welcome often includes a traditional song and dance, most famously the adumu or "jumping dance," where warriors leap high into the air.
The core of the visit is a guided tour of their boma (homestead), a traditional enclosure made of mud, sticks, and cow dung, often surrounded by thorny bushes to protect the cattle. You'll learn about their semi-nomadic, pastoralist lifestyle, where cattle are central to their culture and wealth.
You may have the opportunity to participate in their dancing, learn how to use a club or spear, or even visit the small school house in the village. This is also a chance to buy authentic Maasai handicrafts and beadwork, which directly supports the community, afterwards the guide will transfer you back to Arusha town or to Airport for departure.
