Morning guided city tour, visiting: Kigali Genocide Memorial moving insight into Rwanda’s history. After visit Kimironko Market colorful local produce and crafts Enjoy lunch in Kigali before departing for Akagera (~2.5–3 hours drive). Arrive in the park, check into your lodge, and enjoy a peaceful evening. Akagera is known for its diverse landscapes – from savannahs to wetlands.

Early morning game drive (sunrise): Chance to see the Big Five lions, elephants, buffaloes, leopards, and rhinos plus giraffes, zebras, antelope, and birds. Return to lodge for lunch or picnic inside the park. Afternoon boat ride on Lake Ihema: Spot hippos, crocodiles, and large flocks of water birds like African fish eagles and herons. Morning is ideal for big game; the boat ride offers a relaxing close-up with aquatic wildlife.

Early breakfast and scenic drive back to Kigali (3 hours). Lunch stop and break in Kigali. Continue to Musanze (2.5 hours), gateway to Volcanoes National Park. Check-in at your lodge and relax with views of the Virunga volcanoes. Musanze sits in the lush highlands near the gorilla habitat – cool and scenic.

Early breakfast and transfer to Volcanoes NP headquarters for briefing. Begin your once-in-a-lifetime gorilla trekking adventure (2–6 hours depending on location). Spend 1 hour with a habituated gorilla family in the misty forest. Return to lodge for lunch and a rest. Afternoon visit to the Twin Lakes of Burera & Ruhondo: Great for scenic photos, nature walks, and cultural interactions. Gorilla trekking is physically demanding but deeply rewarding – proper gear recommended.
