Day 1

Morning (Approx. 8:00 AM - 1:00 PM):

8:00 AM - 9:00 AM: Depart from your hotel in Moshi or Arusha and drive to Marangu Gate (approx. 1-2 hours).
9:00 AM - 9:30 AM: Arrive at Marangu Gate (1,860m / 6,100ft). Complete park registration formalities with your guide.
9:30 AM - 1:00 PM: Begin your hike to Mandara Hut (2,700m / 8,860ft). Enjoy the walk through the rainforest, keeping an eye out for wildlife.
Midday (Approx. 1:00 PM - 2:30 PM):

1:00 PM - 2:00 PM: Arrive at Mandara Hut. Rest, enjoy a picnic lunch provided by your tour operator.
2:00 PM - 2:30 PM: Take a short optional walk (approx. 15 minutes each way) to Maundi Crater for panoramic views of Kibo, Mawenzi, and the surrounding plains (weather permitting).
Afternoon (Approx. 2:30 PM - 5:30 PM):

2:30 PM - 5:30 PM: Begin your descent back to Marangu Gate.
Evening (Approx. 5:30 PM onwards):

5:30 PM - 6:30 PM (or later): Arrive back at Marangu Gate. Meet your transport for the drive back to your hotel in Moshi or Arusha.
