On arrival in Addis Ababa, you will be met by Enat Ethiopia Tours staff and transferred to your hotel. Located at 2,438m, Addis Ababa is one of the world’s highest capitals. Founded in 1886, it offers a pleasant climate year-round. Begin your city tour at the National Museum, home to historic artifacts and the 3.2-million-year-old hominid fossil “Lucy.” Continue to the Ethnographic Museum, set in Haile Selassie’s former palace, and visit the Holy Trinity Cathedral, the burial site of Emperor Haile Selassie. Overnight in Addis Ababa.

Day 2
Addis Ababa-Semera-Erat Ale Volcano

Fly from Addis Ababa to Semera (ET110). Upon arrival, drive to Erta Ale, a remote active volcano in the Danakil Depression. Known as one of the few sites with a permanent lava lake, Erta Ale is a shield volcano with a large caldera. After dinner, begin the evening trek to the crater (around 3 hours). Camels carry supplies to the summit. Spend the night at the crater rim, observing the glowing lava lake.

Day 3

Wake early to view sunrise over Erta Ale's main crater. Explore the northern pit, the main active lava lake, and walk to the southern and central pits. After breakfast, begin the descent to Dodom and drive to Hamed Ela. Enjoy scenic views along the way. Arrive in time for a sunset experience at the salt lake. Overnight at Hamed Ela in a basic camp under the stars.

Day 4

Danakil Depression -Semera Drive Back
After breakfast, drive to Ragad (Asebo) to see salt miners cutting and loading salt onto camels. Continue to Dallol, one of the lowest points on Earth at 116m below sea level. Explore colorful salt formations, Lake Assal, and camel caravans (not active July–September). Walk with Afar locals before returning to Hamed Ela and driving to Semera. Fly back to Addis Ababa in the evening. End of tour. Extra hotel nights or programs in Addis available on request.
