Dar es Salaam to Mikumi

Meet your driver-guide at 8:00 AM, either at your hotel or the ferry terminal, and begin the scenic 5-6 hour drive to Mikumi National Park, arriving around 3:00 PM.

Upon arrival, settle into your accommodation at Mikumi Bastian Camp or a similar lodge. In the early evening, enjoy a walk to a nearby Maasai village, where you can participate in traditional Maasai activities and learn about their unique culture and customs.

Experience the beautiful African sundown in this peaceful setting before returning to camp for dinner and a restful overnight stay.

Mikumi national park gamr drive

Early in the morning, at 6:30 AM, after breakfast, depart for a full-day game drive in Mikumi National Park, lasting until sunset. Experience the park’s diverse wildlife and stunning landscapes as you explore its vast savannas and woodlands. Mikumi is home to a rich variety of bird species and large herds of giraffes, buffaloes, and elephants.

With some luck, you might spot elusive predators such as lions and leopards. Other commonly seen animals include zebras, hippos, hartebeests, wildebeests, impalas, warthogs, elands, and various antelope species. After an exciting day of wildlife viewing, return to your lodge for a relaxing dinner and overnight stay, surrounded by the peaceful African wilderness.

Drive back to Dar es Salaam

On the third day, after enjoying a hearty breakfast at your lodge, you will begin your journey back to Dar es Salaam. The drive offers a chance to reflect on the incredible experiences and memories made during your safari. As you travel, take in the changing landscapes and perhaps spot some wildlife along the way.

Upon arrival in Dar es Salaam, you will be transferred to the ferry terminal to catch your ferry to Zanzibar. This scenic boat ride across the turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean provides a relaxing transition from the mainland to the island’s pristine beaches and vibrant culture.

Once in Zanzibar, your adventure continues or you can unwind and enjoy the beauty of this tropical paradise.
