Day 2

Leave the forest behind as you ascend into a heather-covered landscape. The trail leads through open moorland with views of Kilimanjaro’s summit appearing in the distance. Hike for 4–5 hours and arrive at Shira Camp 1 on the plateau, where you’ll settle in for dinner and overnight rest.

Day 3

Today’s hike is relatively gentle, allowing your body to adapt to the higher altitude. Cross the wide, open Shira Plateau with views of the Rift Valley and Mt. Meru. The landscape features low grasses and lava remnants. Reach Shira Camp 2 for another night under crisp alpine skies.

Day 4

Ascend to Lava Tower for altitude exposure and acclimatization. After lunch at this high point, descend to Barranco Camp, surrounded by giant senecios and dramatic cliffs. The “climb high, sleep low” approach today helps your body prepare for the summit days ahead.

Day 5

Start the day climbing the iconic Barranco Wall. Although steep, it’s non-technical and highly rewarding. Continue along a scenic ridge and cross Karanga Valley. Arrive at Karanga Camp for the night—this is the final water point before base camp. Rest, rehydrate, and fuel up.

Day 6

Today’s trail leads through an arid, rocky landscape with sweeping views of the summit. The air grows thinner as you reach Barafu Camp. Settle in early, review summit instructions with your guide, and rest ahead of your midnight start for the final push to Uhuru Peak.

Begin your summit attempt shortly after midnight. Hike through scree to Stella Point, then push on to Uhuru Peak, the rooftop of Africa. After photos and celebration, descend to Barafu, then continue to Mweka Camp for dinner and a deep, well-earned night’s rest.

Day 8
Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate – Return to Arusha

Complete your descent through rainforest to Mweka Gate, where you’ll receive your summit certificate. After a farewell ceremony with your crew, meet your driver and return to Arusha. The remainder of your day is free for celebration, relaxation, or simply enjoying a hot shower.
