After an early breakfast, your private guide will take you on a special excursion to Mabamba Swamp, one of the best places in Africa to spot the rare and prehistoric-looking Shoebill stork. You’ll explore the papyrus channels by canoe with a local guide in search of this incredible bird and other wetland species.

After the excursion, begin your scenic drive west to Kibale Forest National Park, arriving at Turaco Treetops—an elegant eco-lodge nestled on the forest edge. Enjoy dinner and rest in preparation for the next day’s chimpanzee adventure.

Day 3

Chimpanzee Tracking and Bigodi Wetland Walk

After your early breakfast, you will head to Kibale Forest in the morning for an exhilarating chimpanzee tracking experience. Starting with a briefing at the Visito center and later joining a group of 8 max for your experience. With the guidance of experienced rangers, you’ll trek through the rainforest to observe these intelligent and social primates in their natural habitat. Once you find them, you will be allowed one hour with them before you head back to the starting point and later to the lodge for your hot lunch.

In the afternoon, visit the nearby Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary, a community-run conservation area rich in biodiversity. The guided swamp walk offers excellent birdwatching and the chance to spot monkeys, baboons, and unique flora.

Day 4

After breakfast, drive south toward Queen Elizabeth National Park, passing through the crater lake region with optional photo stops. Upon arrival, enjoy a scenic boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel, known for its high concentration of hippos, crocodiles, elephants, and birdlife.

In the evening, head out for a game drive through the park’s savannah plains for a chance to spot lions, buffalo, and antelopes among other wildlife that make this park unique while enjoying the Rwenzori Mountain Ranges in the backdrop.

Later, return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Start the day with an early morning game drive in Queen Elizabeth National Park’s Kasenyi Plains, a prime area for spotting predators like lions, leopards, and hyenas, especially near the large herds of Uganda kob. This scenic savannah is also home to elephants, buffalo, warthogs, and diverse birdlife.

After breakfast, head south to the Ishasha sector, renowned for its rare tree-climbing lions, often seen resting in fig and acacia trees. A game drive through Ishasha offers chances to spot these unique predators and topi, buffalo, and elephants in the open plains. From Ishasha, continue your drive through the rolling highlands of southwestern Uganda, passing tea plantations, villages, and terraced hills. In the afternoon, you’ll arrive at Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and refuge for nearly half of the world’s mountain gorillas. Today marks the highlight of your safari, gorilla trekking in the ancient rainforest of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. After an early breakfast, head to the park headquarters for a pre-trek briefing by the Uganda Wildlife Authority. You’ll be assigned to a gorilla family and led by experienced rangers into the dense forest. The trek can last 2 to 6 hours, involving steep, muddy terrain, but the reward is unforgettable. Once you find the gorillas, spend an awe-inspiring hour observing the silverback, playful juveniles, and caring mothers in their natural habitat.

After the trek, return to your lodge for lunch and a short rest. In the afternoon, visit a nearby pangolin rescue and rehabilitation center. Pangolins are the world’s most trafficked mammals and are critically endangered. This visit offers a unique chance to learn about efforts to rescue, rehabilitate, and release these elusive animals, deepening your understanding of local conservation initiatives.
