Arusha to Tarangire NP
After breakfast, you’ll depart Arusha and drive about 2.5 hours to Tarangire National Park, the sixth-largest park in Tanzania and one of the most underrated gems.
The park is especially famous for its massive elephant herds, ancient baobab trees, and the life-giving Tarangire River. Upon arrival, begin your game drive across the diverse terrain, which ranges from acacia woodlands to open savannahs. You’ll have a picnic lunch inside the park and continue exploring in the afternoon, with high chances of seeing lions, giraffes, wildebeest, zebras, buffalo, and over 500 bird species. Tarangire is especially alive during the dry season when animals congregate around the river.

Tarangire to Serengeti NP
After an early breakfast, leave Tarangire and begin your scenic drive to the Serengeti National Park, passing through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. While the drive takes approximately 6–7 hours, it is one of the most beautiful in Tanzania. Along the way, you’ll witness dramatic landscapes—rolling highlands, Maasai villages, and endless vistas. Keep your eyes open for wildlife even before you reach the Serengeti gate; zebras and giraffes often appear along the roadside.
Upon entering the Serengeti, the vegetation opens up into a sweeping sea of golden grass—the iconic "endless plains". You’ll enjoy a game drive and route to your camp, already spotting herds of wildebeest, antelope, and maybe even the first lions or cheetahs. Depending on the migration season, you may be in the Central Serengeti (year-round wildlife) or Western/Northern Serengeti (migration herds). Arrive at your tented safari camp in time for dinner and a beautiful sunset over the plains.

Full Day in Serengeti NP
Today you’ll explore the Serengeti in depth with a full-day game drive, starting before sunrise to catch predators at their most active. The Serengeti is home to more than 3,000 lions, 1.5 million wildebeest, and over 500 species of birds. Depending on the season, you’ll either be tracking the migration herds as they cross rivers or roam the plains, or focusing on resident wildlife in predator-rich areas.
You may see thrilling scenes: lion prides on the move, cheetahs hunting on the open plains, hyenas trailing the herds, or vultures circling a fresh kill. Break for a picnic lunch under a lone acacia tree or by a hippo pool, and continue your safari into the afternoon. In the evening, return to camp to share stories around the fire, with the distant calls of hyenas or lions echoing in the night.

Along the way, consider an optional stop at Olduvai Gorge, an archaeological site where some of the oldest human fossils were found—often called the “Cradle of Mankind.”
As you ascend the highlands, the air grows cooler and the scenery changes. Arrive at your lodge or campsite in the late afternoon, located near the Ngorongoro Crater rim or in the fertile valley town of Karatu. Spend your evening relaxing, with views of the surrounding forests and volcanic hills.

Ngorongoro crater to Arusha
Ngorongoro crater to Arusha
Wake early for a once-in-a-lifetime experience: a game drive inside Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Descend 600 meters into the caldera, a natural sanctuary teeming with wildlife. The crater floor is home to nearly every major East African mammal, including black rhinos, lions, hippos, zebras, warthogs, and massive bull elephants. Because of the crater’s enclosed geography, animals are easily spotted and often seen in close proximity.
After a half-day safari, enjoy a picnic lunch by a lake or hippo pool, then ascend back to the rim and begin your drive to Arusha (approx. 4–5 hours). You’ll be dropped off at your hotel or the airport for evening departures, ending your incredible journey through Tanzania’s most iconic landscapes.
