Day 1

Mombasa – Shimba Hills

Pick-Up: 7:30 AM from your hotel or resort in Mombasa, Diani, or Nyali.

Itinerary:

Depart for Shimba Hills Reserve through the scenic coastal hinterland.

Arrive at the Shimba Hills National Reserve mid-morning.

Begin your first game drive in search of elephants, sable antelopes, giraffes, warthogs, and various bird species.

Optional walk to the Sheldrick Falls (escorted by a KWS ranger) – a refreshing 1.5-hour nature trail ending at a stunning waterfall.

Check-in at the Shimba Hills Lodge by noon – a unique tree lodge built on stilts with panoramic views and a waterhole that attracts elephants and antelopes.

Enjoy lunch and relax on the viewing deck or in your room as you watch wildlife come to drink at the waterhole.

Afternoon game drive in the cooler hours of the day with chances to spot sunset scenes and rare species like the endangered sable antelope.

Return to the lodge at dusk.
