A UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the Seven Natural Wonders of Africa, the Ngorongoro Crater was formed around three million years ago. Home to a dense concentration of wildlife—over 25,000 large animals—it offers some of the best game viewing in all of Tanzania. Within minutes of entering the crater, you’re likely to encounter wildebeests, zebras, gazelles, elephants, and a rich variety of birdlife, with more than 500 recorded species.
If you're lucky, you may even catch a glimpse of the rare and endangered black rhino grazing in the open grasslands.
