After a drive from Moshi or Arusha to Umbwe Gate, complete registration and begin your trek through dense rainforest. The trail is steep and narrow, winding up ridges and roots. Arrive at Umbwe Cave Camp for your first night on the mountain.

Continue the steep climb along a ridge with stunning views of the forest canopy below. As you gain altitude, the vegetation thins out. You’ll reach the scenic Barranco Valley and set up camp beneath the impressive Barranco Wall.

Start your day with an exciting scramble up the Barranco Wall, then follow a trail through rocky ridges and valleys. A shorter acclimatization hike brings you to Karanga Camp, perched on the mountain’s slopes.

Trek uphill on volcanic scree to reach Barafu Camp, your final base before the summit. Arrive by early afternoon, rest, hydrate, and prepare for the midnight summit push. Dinner is early, followed by sleep before the final ascent.

Wake at midnight and begin the challenging climb to Stella Point, then to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa. Celebrate your achievement with photos before descending to Barafu for a rest and continuing down to Mweka Camp for the night.
