Day 1
Tarangire National Park, located in northern Tanzania, is renowned for its large elephant herds, ancient baobab trees, and seasonal migration of wildlife. Covering about 2,850 km², it's named after the Tarangire River, a vital water source during the dry season. The park is home to lions, leopards, zebras, giraffes, wildebeests, and over 550 bird species, making it a top destination for both game viewing and birdwatching. Its diverse landscape includes savannahs, swamps, and woodlands. Tarangire offers fewer crowds than Serengeti or Ngorongoro, making it perfect for a peaceful safari. Activities include game drives, walking safaris, and cultural visits to nearby Maasai communities. It's best visited in the dry season (June–October) when wildlife gathers at the river. Tarangire is easily accessible from Arusha and is often part of Tanzania’s northern safari circuit.
