5-Day Mount Kenya Trek - from Equator to Summit

Nanyuki to Old Moses Camp (3300m)

Early morning pick-up from Nanyuki Town at 9:00 AM, followed by a scenic drive to Sirimon Gate (2,650m). Trekking begins with a 9km hike through montane forest and moorland, gradually ascending to Old Moses Camp at 3,300m. Dinner and overnight stay in huts or your tent.

Old Moses To Shipton's Camp (4200m)

After breakfast, the trek continues through expansive moorland and dramatic valleys. The trail offers panoramic views of alpine vegetation and rugged terrain. Arrival at Shipton’s Camp (4,200m) in the afternoon. Dinner and overnight stay in mountain huts.

Acclimatization and Alpine Exploration

A full day dedicated to acclimatization and exploration of Mt. Kenya’s western peaks. The route includes visits to alpine tarns and lakes, enhancing altitude readiness while offering stunning scenery. Return to Shipton’s Camp for dinner and overnight rest.

Conquer Point Lenana and Descend to Meru Bandas

Pre-dawn ascent to Point Lenana (4,985m) begins early, reaching the summit in time for a breathtaking sunrise. After summit photos, descent to Shipton’s for breakfast, then onward via the Chogoria route to Meru Bandas. Dinner and overnight in forested surroundings.

Bamboo Forest Walk and Departure
