Kigali – Nyungwe Forest & Canopy Walk

Our guide/driver will pick you up from Kigali in the morning and begin the scenic journey to Nyungwe Forest. Along the way, enjoy a cultural stop at the Nyanza King’s Palace, a historical site that offers insight into Rwanda’s royal past. Continue to Butare to visit the Ethnographic Museum, one of the country’s best cultural institutions, showcasing Rwanda’s rich traditions and heritage.

After lunch in Huye, continue your drive through the rolling hills of Rwanda toward Nyungwe. Upon arrival, head straight to the park’s Uwinka Visitor Center for a thrilling Canopy Walk at 3 PM—a suspended walkway offering breathtaking views of the rainforest from above. Later, check in to your lodge and relax as you prepare for the next day’s adventure.

Chimpanzee Trekking – Return to Kigali

Start your day early with a light breakfast before heading out for chimpanzee trekking, which begins around 5:00 AM. Accompanied by expert trackers, you’ll venture into the dense forest in search of the park’s lively and intelligent chimpanzee families. Trekking can last up to 4 hours, depending on where the chimps are located, and offers a rewarding and up-close encounter with these fascinating primates in their natural environment.

After the trek, return to your lodge for a refresh before beginning the journey back to Kigali, arriving in the late afternoon or early evening.
