Day 1

Our driver will meet you at the airport and warmly welcome you to the most scenic ascent in Kenya. From here, you’ll set off on a picturesque drive through the lush Central Highlands, skirting the western flanks of Mount Kenya. Approximately four hours later, you’ll arrive at our Nanyuki offices, conveniently located along the A2 highway that leads directly to the Sirimon route. Here, you’ll meet your mountain crew and organize the equipment for your climb. Afterward, you’ll continue to the Sirimon Gate, pausing for a short lunch as you prepare for the adventure ahead.

The trek begins at the Sirimon trailhead, gradually ascending through the lower forested slopes of Mount Kenya, where encounters with wildlife are common. As you ascend, the landscape transitions into beautiful heathlands. By evening— 4 - 5 hrs later—you’ll have arrived at Judmaier Campsite. Here, you’ll enjoy dinner and settle in for the night. (3340 m a.s.l).

Day 2

After breakfast, you’ll embark on the longest ascent of your journey. The first stretch of the trail, spanning about seven hours, takes you past the Ontulili River and into sweeping moorland dotted with striking vegetation. From there, you’ll enter the famed Mackinder Valley, a breathtaking corridor that offers dramatic vistas of Mount Kenya’s three towering peaks and showcases unique alpine flora found nowhere else. By late afternoon, you’ll arrive at Shipton Camp, where you’ll enjoy a well-earned lunch. Your dinner and overnight will be at the same camp, surrounded by the rugged beauty of the high mountain landscape.

Day 3

Acclimatize and Unwind at Shipton Camp

This morning is dedicated to high-altitude acclimatization. You’ll take a gentle hike around Shipton Camp, soaking in the striking alpine scenery while helping your body adjust to the thin air. By lunchtime, you’ll return to camp, having completed the essential exercise needed for a safer summit attempt. The afternoon is yours to simply relax — rest your legs, enjoy the serene mountain atmosphere, and prepare mentally for the days ahead. Your dinner and overnight stay will be at Shipton Camp.

Day 4

You’ll rise at 3:00 am to begin your final push, ascending a steep, rocky trail in the early morning. By around 6:00 am, you’ll stand triumphantly on Point Lenana at 4,985 m a.s.l., celebrating your summit with breathtaking photos of the glaciers glowing in the golden sunrise. After soaking in the views, you’ll descend to Mintos Camp for a well-earned breakfast, then continue your journey down through the stunning landscapes to Chogoria Bandas at 3,000 m a.s.l., where you’ll rest and relive the day’s incredible achievement.

You'll begin your final day with a scenic descent through the lower slopes of the Chogoria route, where you’ll be immersed in stunning, lush vegetation and vibrant forest life. This area is renowned for its beautiful natural features, including the rolling Mugi Hills and the spectacular Nithi Waterfalls cascading through the verdant landscape. As you make your way down, take in these breathtaking sights that highlight the rich biodiversity of Mount Kenya’s foothills.

Upon arrival at Chogoria Gate, you will complete the necessary park clearance formalities. From here, a comfortable transfer awaits to take you back to Nairobi, marking the end of your unforgettable Mount Kenya trekking adventure.
