Drive to Lake Natron

Early Morning Departure
Start your day early from your accommodation near West Kilimanjaro or Marangu, heading south or southwest towards Lake Natron. The drive typically takes around 4 to 5 hours, depending on road conditions.
Scenic Journey Through Maasai Lands
As you leave the highlands, you'll traverse the rugged Maasai Steppe, a landscape dotted with acacia trees, Maasai villages, and traditional homesteads. This area is rich in Maasai culture, and you may see local herders tending their cattle and goats, offering a glimpse into their pastoral lifestyle.
Passing Volcanic Landscapes
The route often passes through volcanic terrain, with views of the nearby Oldonyo Lengai volcano, The landscape is striking, with dark volcanic rocks contrasting against the semi-arid plains.
