Arrival in Kigali & Transfer to Volcanoes National Park

Upon arrival in Kigali, meet your driver-guide and begin a scenic 2.5-hour drive to Volcanoes National Park in the northern province of Rwanda. Enjoy views of rolling hills, local villages, and lush countryside.
Depending on your arrival time, you may take an optional city tour, including a visit to the Kigali Genocide Memorial (optional for an extra cost).
Check in to your midrange lodge near the park and relax.

Mountain Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park

After an early breakfast, head to the park headquarters for a briefing by expert rangers. Begin your once-in-a-lifetime gorilla trek through the dense bamboo forests. The trek may take 2–6 hours depending on the gorillas’ movement.
Once located, spend one unforgettable hour observing a mountain gorilla family in their natural habitat.
Return to your lodge for lunch and an afternoon at leisure. Optional cultural visits to a local community or Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village can be arranged (optional for an extra cost).

Golden Monkey Trekking & Return to Kigali

After breakfast, return to the park for your second trek—this time to track the lively golden monkeys. These rare primates are unique to the Virunga region and offer a playful and active viewing experience.
After the trek, check out from the lodge and drive back to Kigali. Stop for lunch en route. Depending on your flight time, you may enjoy optional shopping or a brief Kigali tour (optional for an extra cost).
