Day 2
Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary
Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary
Your adventure begins early in the morning as you make your way to the Waterfront Beach to check in for your boat transfer to Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary, located about 23 kilometers across Lake Victoria.
Upon arrival at Ngamba Island, you’ll be warmly welcomed by the sanctuary staff, who will give a brief orientation about the island, the chimpanzees, and the day’s program. You’ll be introduced to the history of the sanctuary, which provides a home to over 50 rescued chimpanzees that were orphaned or displaced due to poaching and illegal trade.
Return to Entebbe with a scheduled stop at the equator to study how the boat will be pushed by the pressures of the south and north poles, which will try to keep it stationary. If the equator is crossed, it can be seen that the boat’s engine tends to need a little more power to cross it.
