After breakfast, your safari guide will collect you from your accommodation and drive to Tarangire National Park. The journey takes approximately two and a half hours on good tarmac roads. The park is named after the Tarangire River, which serves as the region’s only water source for wildlife during the dry season, often referred to as the ‘river of warthogs.’
Tarangire is renowned for its large elephant herds, which are frequently seen gathered near the river. You may also encounter giraffes, bushbucks, and hartebeests, while predators such as lions and leopards follow the herds closely. The park is home to an incredible variety of bird species, more than anywhere else in the world. Towering ancient baobab trees, some over a thousand years old, add to the park’s unique landscape.
