Day 1

Arusha to Tarangire National Park

Arusha to Tarangire National Park

We will pick you up from your hotel at 8:00 AM and introduce you to your guide before setting off on a scenic two-hour drive to Tarangire National Park. Famous for its majestic, ancient baobab trees, Tarangire is home to the largest elephant population in Tanzania. You’ll have the chance to see these gentle giants up close and observe their fascinating social interactions.

As we embark on a game drive through the park, we’ll follow recent wildlife sightings to maximize your chances of spotting a variety of animals. Tarangire is teeming with herbivores such as giraffes, wildebeest, and zebras. While predators like lions, cheetahs, and leopards are more elusive, sightings are possible with a bit of luck and patience. Around midday, we’ll stop at a scenic riverside picnic site to enjoy lunch surrounded by nature. Keep an eye out for curious monkeys and cheeky baboons. After lunch, we’ll continue exploring the park with an afternoon game drive before exiting.

Ngorongoro Crater, renowned as one of the Natural Wonders of the World, is a spectacular wildlife sanctuary. Covering 102 square miles and surrounded by 2,000-foot-high walls, it is often called a modern-day Noah’s Ark, sheltering nearly every species native to East Africa, including the rare black rhino. Within the crater, diverse habitats unfold rivers, swamps, open plains, forests, and a soda lake attracting vast flocks of flamingos. Giant elephants roam the mineral-rich plains, their long tusks nourished by the volcanic soils.

Your day starts with an early transfer to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Descend to the crater floor for a morning of unforgettable wildlife viewing amid breathtaking scenery. After an afternoon game drive exploring its rich biodiversity, you’ll ascend the crater walls and transfer to your lodge, concluding a day immersed in one of Africa’s most extraordinary natural wonders.

After an early breakfast, you’ll depart for the world-famous Serengeti National Park. Although the drive is long, the journey offers spectacular views that will leave a lasting impression, especially for first-time visitors. As you venture deeper into the Serengeti, you’ll understand why its name means "endless plains" in the local language. Covering 6,900 square miles (18,000 square kilometers), the park’s vast plains stretch endlessly to the horizon, challenging your perception of distance.

The Serengeti is the epicenter of the Great Migration, hosting around 2 million wildebeests, hundreds of thousands of zebras, and a wide variety of antelope species. When it comes to big cats and other large predators, this park offers exceptional opportunities to spot lions, cheetahs, leopards, and hyenas. Many iconic wildlife documentaries including famous scenes of river crossings have been filmed here.
