Day 1

Our driver will meet you in Nairobi and provide a brief overview of the adventure ahead. From here, enjoy a scenic 3.5–4 hour drive through the Central Highlands to Nanyuki, with the jagged outline of Mount Kenya gradually coming into view. On arrival at our Nanyuki office, you’ll meet your mountain crew, finalize gear checks, and enjoy a light lunch.
Continue by vehicle to the Sirimon Gate (2,650 m a.s.l.), where park formalities are completed. Your trek begins with a gentle ascent along a well-marked trail. The first few hours take you through lush montane forest alive with birdlife, before opening into heather moorlands where you may encounter bushbuck, colobus monkeys, and even the occasional buffalo.
By late afternoon (4–5 hours walking), you’ll arrive at Old Moses / Judmaier Camp (3,340 m). Here you’ll enjoy dinner, stunning views across the lowlands, and your first night on the mountain.

Day 2

After breakfast, set out on the longest trek of the journey. The trail begins with a gradual climb across moorland vegetation, crossing the Ontulili River. From here, you’ll skirt the dramatic Liki North Valley before rejoining the main trail that leads into the Mackinder Valley.
This stretch offers sweeping panoramas of Mount Kenya’s iconic peaks—Batian, Nelion, and Lenana—as well as the giant groundsels and lobelias that define this unique alpine ecosystem. Packed lunch will be served along the way.
By late afternoon (6–7 hours trekking), you’ll reach Shipton Camp (4,200 m), nestled directly beneath the towering rock faces of the main peaks. Dinner and overnight at the camp.

Day 3

Your summit day begins at 2:30–3:00 am with a hot drink and light snack. Equipped with headlamps, you’ll climb steadily up a steep scree and rocky trail, reaching Point Lenana (4,985 m a.s.l.) by sunrise. The reward: breathtaking views of the peaks glowing in the early light, with Mount Kilimanjaro and the Aberdares visible on the horizon.
After celebrating and capturing photos, descend carefully back to Shipton Camp for a hearty breakfast. Refueled, you’ll continue your descent through the Mackinder Valley, retracing your path toward Old Moses. This leg (6–7 hours total walking) brings you back down to the heath and forest zone, where you’ll enjoy dinner and overnight rest at camp.

Day 4

After breakfast, begin your final descent (2–3 hours) along a wide forest track leading to Sirimon Gate (2,650 m). The walk is relaxed, passing through montane forest where wildlife is often spotted one last time.
At the gate, meet your driver for the return transfer through Nanyuki and onward to Nairobi, where you’ll arrive in the mid-afternoon. This marks the end of your unforgettable Mount Kenya trek.
