Arrival in the Northern Serengeti

Your adventure begins with an early morning drive from Arusha. This is a full-day journey that takes you across the diverse landscapes of Northern Tanzania and into the vast Serengeti. The drive itself serves as an extended game viewing opportunity, with your guide spotting wildlife along the way. Your route will take you past the Ngorongoro Conservation Area before you finally reach the remote northern part of the park. Upon arrival, you will check into your luxury camp located strategically to access the river.

The Serengeti is Africa's most famous national park, renowned for its endless plains and the spectacular Great Migration. The park's ecosystem supports an incredible diversity of wildlife, including the "Big Five." The northern region is particularly famous for the Mara River, which the wildebeest must cross to get to the Kenyan Mara plains, creating a dramatic and unforgettable sight.

River Crossing & Northern Serengeti Exploration

Today is dedicated to witnessing the heart of the action. You will spend the day on an extensive game drive focused on the Mara River. Your guide will position the vehicle at key vantage points, where with patience and luck, you will see the massive herds of wildebeest and zebra gather on the riverbanks before plunging into the crocodile-infested waters. This day offers a full immersion into the raw and untamed drama of the migration. You will return to your luxury camp in the evening for dinner and an overnight stay.

Second Chance at the River Crossing

Another full day is spent exploring the Northern Serengeti and the Mara River. This second day provides a fantastic opportunity for a different perspective and a second chance to see a river crossing, as the timing of this event is unpredictable. Your guide will take you to different sections of the river to find the herds and you can also explore other parts of the northern plains, looking for resident wildlife, including large prides of lions and elephants.

Drive back to Arusha

After a final breakfast at the camp, you will begin the full-day drive from the Northern Serengeti back to Arusha. This long but scenic journey offers one last opportunity to enjoy the incredible landscapes and spot any wildlife you may have missed on the way in. The safari ends upon your arrival back in Arusha in the late afternoon or early evening.
