Day 1
Arusha to Tarangire National Park
Arusha to Tarangire National Park
We will pick you up from your hotel at 7:00 AM and introduce you to your guide before setting off on a scenic two-hour drive to Tarangire National Park. Famous for its majestic, ancient baobab trees, Tarangire is home to the largest elephant population in Tanzania. You’ll have the chance to see these gentle giants up close and observe their fascinating social interactions.
As we embark on a game drive through the park, we’ll follow recent wildlife sightings to maximize your chances of spotting a variety of animals. Tarangire is teeming with herbivores such as giraffes, wildebeest, and zebras. While predators like lions, cheetahs, and leopards are more elusive, sightings are possible with a bit of luck and patience. Around midday, we’ll stop at a scenic riverside picnic site to enjoy lunch surrounded by nature. Keep an eye out for curious monkeys and cheeky baboons. After lunch, we’ll continue exploring the park with an afternoon game drive before exiting.

Once there, you’ll descend into the crater floor for an unforgettable morning of wildlife viewing in this breathtaking setting. After a rewarding afternoon game drive, you’ll ascend the crater walls and transfer to your accommodation for the evening.
Within the crater, diverse habitats unfold: a river, several swamps, open plains, a forest, and a soda lake that attracts large flocks of flamingos. The area is also known for its magnificent elephants, considered some of the largest in Africa, with impressively long tusks thanks to the mineral-rich volcanic soil that nourishes the grasses they feed on. Although the drive is long, the journey offers spectacular views that will leave a lasting impression, especially for first-time visitors. As you venture deeper into the Serengeti, you’ll understand why its name means "endless plains" in the local language. Covering 6,900 square miles (18,000 square kilometers), the park’s vast plains stretch endlessly to the horizon, challenging your perception of distance.
The Serengeti is the epicenter of the Great Migration, hosting around 2 million wildebeests, hundreds of thousands of zebras, and a wide variety of antelope species. When it comes to big cats and other large predators, this park offers exceptional opportunities to spot lions, cheetahs, leopards, and hyenas. Many iconic wildlife documentaries including famous scenes of river crossings have been filmed here.
