Transfer from the Hotel to Momella Gate (1500m) - Miriakamba Hut (2514m)

Before starting your Mount Meru climb, you'll receive a general briefing and a gear check to ensure you're well-prepared. The drive to Arusha National Park takes about an hour. After your guide completes the entry formalities at the park gate, you'll proceed to Momella Gate—the starting point of your hike. Along the way, keep an eye out for wildlife such as giraffes, zebras, and other animals.

Due to the presence of wildlife, an armed park ranger will accompany you from Momella Gate onward. The trail crosses the Ngare Nanyuki River and continues alongside it, offering chances to see buffalo herds, baboons, and more. After about two hours, you'll reach the scenic Mayo Falls, where a peaceful meadow provides the perfect spot for a picnic break.

After some rest, the hike continues to the "Arched Fig Tree," a remarkable natural arch formed by a fig tree spanning the trail. Another 1.5 to 2 hours of hiking brings you to Miriakamba Hut, where you’ll spend your first night on Mount Meru.

Day 2

Miriakamba Hut (2514m) - Saddle Hut (3560m)

Miriakamba Hut (2514m) - Saddle Hut (3560m)

After breakfast, your trek continues through dense mountain forest, covered in moss and draped with beard lichens. After 2–3 hours, you’ll reach the scenic viewpoint of Mgongo wa Tembo (Elephant Ridge) at around 3,200 meters. The trail is steep and slippery in sections, with wooden steps to assist your ascent. From the ridge, enjoy stunning views of Mount Meru’s massive collapsed crater.

After a short rest, you’ll continue toward Saddle Hut. As you approach the hut, the lush rainforest gradually gives way to open bushland. After lunch, you’ll have the option to take a short hike (about 1–1.5 hours) to the summit of Little Mount Meru (3,820 meters). From there, you’ll be treated to panoramic views across Arusha National Park and even Kilimanjaro on clear days. After returning to the hut, dinner will be served.

Then it’s early to bed—summit day begins before dawn!
Meals included: breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Saddle Hut (3560m) – Socialist Peak (4566m) - Momella Gate (1500m)

After a light snack and hot drink, your summit attempt begins around 2 a.m. Under the beam of your headlamp, you’ll ascend through bushland to reach Rhino Point. The trail becomes increasingly challenging, with some sections requiring light scrambling. From there, you’ll follow the long, exposed north ridge toward the summit. You’ll arrive at the peak just in time to witness a breathtaking sunrise—watching the sun rise behind Mount Kilimanjaro, casting a warm orange-red glow across the plains and crater below, is an unforgettable reward for your effort.

After taking in the views, you’ll descend back to Saddle Hut, where a warm meal and drink await. Later, you’ll continue your descent via the “Northern Route” toward Momella Gate. Along the way, you may once again encounter wildlife such as buffalo, baboons, and, with some luck, elephants.

After several hours of trekking, you’ll arrive at Momella Gate, where your driver will be waiting to transfer you back.
