Arusha to Tarangire National Park
After breakfast, your Kilimanjaro On Foot Safari guide will collect you from your accommodation and set out on the drive to Tarangire National Park, a journey of around two and a half hours on smooth tarmac roads.
The park takes its name from the Tarangire River, a lifeline for wildlife during the dry season and famously nicknamed the “river of warthogs.” Tarangire is best known for its large elephant herds, often seen gathering along the riverbanks. You may also encounter graceful giraffes, bushbucks, and hartebeests — with predators such as lions and leopards never far behind.
Bird enthusiasts will be delighted to know that Tarangire hosts the highest number of breeding bird species in the world. The landscape is dotted with towering, ancient baobab trees, some believed to be over a thousand years old, standing like silent guardians of the savannah.
Later in the afternoon, you’ll head onward to Karatu, where your accommodation awaits.

Ngorongoro Crater to Serengeti National Park
Ngorongoro Crater to Serengeti National Park
After breakfast, you’ll ascend into the cooler highlands and your first glimpse of the Ngorongoro Crater is truly unforgettable — a hidden world revealed beneath steep volcanic walls.
Formed two to three million years ago when a massive volcano erupted and collapsed in on itself, the crater spans 260 square kilometers. Today, it is celebrated not only for its striking geological features but also as one of Africa’s greatest natural wildlife sanctuaries, supporting some of the densest large-mammal populations on the continent.
As you descend into the crater floor, you’ll be immersed in a landscape alive with wildlife — vast herds of wildebeest, zebra, and gazelle. The Ngorongoro Crater also offers one of the best opportunities to spot the highly endangered black rhino in its natural habitat.
Later, your journey continues through the Conservation Area toward the legendary Serengeti National Park, entering from the park’s southern plains.

Day 4
Serengeti National Park to Karatu
Serengeti National Park to Karatu
The Serengeti is nothing short of spectacular, renowned worldwide for its endless open plains that provide unmatched opportunities to observe wildlife in their natural habitat. Its climate and landscapes have remained virtually unchanged for millions of years, offering a glimpse into a timeless wilderness.
While the Serengeti is home to an astonishing variety of animals year-round, it is most famous for the Great Migration — an awe-inspiring natural phenomenon where over a million wildebeest, joined by vast herds of zebras and antelopes, move in a perpetual cycle in search of fresh grazing. The migration can be witnessed throughout the year, though the location shifts with the seasons, making the real question not if you will see it, but where to see it.
Beyond the migration, the Serengeti also offers prime predator encounters.
In the afternoon, you’ll begin your journey back to Karatu, soaking in more unforgettable moments along the way.

Day 5
Lake Manyara National Park to Arusha
Lake Manyara National Park to Arusha
After breakfast, you’ll set out for Lake Manyara National Park, a small yet remarkably diverse gem located 120 km west of Arusha. Everything about this park feels unique in scale — it is one of Africa’s narrowest parks, yet its landscapes are dominated by the dramatic Great Rift Valley Escarpment, which rises sharply above the shimmering lake below.
It attracts thousands of wading birds, including flamingos, pelicans, and more than 500 other bird species. You may spot large troops of baboons and wandering elephants, while the park is also famed for its rare tree-climbing lions.
You’ll enjoy a scenic picnic lunch inside the park before continuing your game drive. Later, it will be time to bid farewell to your guide as you are dropped off at your chosen location — whether that’s Arusha, Kilimanjaro International Airport, or Arusha Airport.
We trust your journey with Kilimanjaro On Foot has been filled with unforgettable memories and moments of wonder.
