Hell's gate is a unique park as you can cycle inside the park, that's pretty cool. There is plenty of zebras and wathogs etc but no predators.

Unique safari destination, unlike any I have seen earlier!

Hell's Gate national park deserves a couple of days at least, unfortunately I had just one. Its a destination where you can do multiple things & get something out of it. This is one park where you can rent a bike outside & cycle through it. I understand you can also camp onsite here.

The safari drive through Hell's Gate national park is surreal - the scenery is spectacular with craggy mountains on either side. Easy to spot lots of deer, giraffes, zebras, wild buffalo, boar, birds, hyenas etc

Then I took the trek through the Park's ravine - a spectacular place; make sure you go all the way to the end where scenes of the Tomb Raider movie was shot. Its a good 2 hour hike, with wonderful photo-ops on along the route.

The park also has a geothermal station, wish they would allow tourists there too, I got only a peek from outside.

We took a walking safari in Hell's Gate National Park. We had a very good and knowledgeable local guide, John. We came close to Zebras, Warthogs, Giraffes and a lot of Gazelles. We where also led in a big circle around a bunch of angry Buffalos.
A walking safari is a unique experience, and I would really recommend it.

We rented 2 bikes and started our journey from a campsite near Hell's Gate National Park (where we could spot some Hippos at night because our tent was just next to the lake) and we arrived at the park. We had a guide until the canyon but we came back by ourselves!!!! It is so amazing to cycle among zebras, giraffes, monkeys, buffaloes, gazelles... You really have time to stop wherever and whenever you want and you really feel like an adventurer!!! The landscape is also beautiful, especially when you start going down the gorge!!! Avoid rainy season but in May we had a really good time there (though check the meteo because it can be bad sometimes..) You can also visit some flowers plantations next to the park! Take your lunch box as there is only limited food available (but it is much better like that!!!)!!
We really enjoyed our journey there and we highly recomment it!!!

I took a driving tour through Hell's Gate National Park even though you can actually walk or bicycle through it due to the fact that there are no predatory animals in the park. I saw some zebra, giraffe, and a few types of antelope, but I wouldn't come here just for wildlife viewing. For me the highlight was walking down into and through the gorges. It was beautiful and very interesting. A maasai guide took me down and told me some of the history of the area. And I got to wash my hands in a hot geothermal stream that was flowing down the rocks. The beauty of these gorges is definitely worth a visit. There's a lot of geothermal activity in the park and before we reached the gorge, we drove through an area with a lot of plants that were harnessing that energy, which is a good thing, but it detracted from the beauty of the park. Once you got through that area though, it was nice. I was glad to be driving through because it started to rain right after I finished my hike through the gorge. I would love to go back though and maybe bicycle in the park.

Lack of diverse wildlife and habitat. However, I have only visited once.

One of the best parks in Kenya to get up close with the wildlife

Easily accessible from Nairobi, Hell's Gate NP is a must for any visitor in Kenya. Bike past herds of Zebra before hiking through the Hells Gate Canyon.

A great family day out.

Very pretty place with cliffs lining one side of the park. Unfortunately we were unable to see any predators here, but were able to walk through the reserve.
