Nature Travel Namibia was very responsive during the planning process and we loved Buzzy our guide
This wasn’t our first trip to Africa, where we lived and worked there most of our adult lives, but never made it to Namibia or Botswana. So, we looked for help from a local agency and Nature Travel has great reviews. Note that this review has not much new to add but can confirm that Petra is very patient and responsive. She helped us to put the Namibia and Botswana trips together within our time and budget restrictions. Between the 2 countries we arranged our own flights (with mileage points) to Zimbabwe to visit the Victoria Falls.
Our Namibia experience was mostly limited to “National parks” which have their own rules and restrictions, which means no roaming of the roads to get closer to animals or other points of interests. In Botswana we chose private camps which allowed us to see some wildlife, including the wild dogs, cheetah and leopard, very close-up.
Whereas the “big five” are a hit or, for some, a must on a trip to Africa, we also enjoy the small stuff or... Read more the tall stuff, such as the giraffe. Buzzy, our driver and guide in Namibia, knows his small stuff and we saw more birds than I ever will be able to memorize the names of. During one afternoon drive (between Swakopmund and Solitaire) he made a sudden stop and U-turn to pick up, and show us, a chameleon he had spotted on the side of the road while driving 80 km/hour. Minutes later he did the same for a very deathly scorpion. He identified both by their first and last names (or rather their Latin names😉). This is just to say that with Buzzy there was never a dull moment.
We had made our own arrangements getting to Windhoek and Victoria Falls. All other transfers, made by Petra, went very smoothly. We especially enjoyed the Botswana small Cessna flights. In Botswana we also enjoyed some “drives” by boat, some the size of a large kayak.

Penguins in the Suburbs of Cape Town & Namibia's Extraordinary "Green Season"
Penguins in the Suburbs of Cape Town & Namibia’s Extraordinary “Green Season”
I recently returned from a visit to Africa, traveling with 5 friends and under the guidance of “Nature Travel Africa”. Our journey started in Cape Town, South Africa for several days to recover from our travels. We viewed the African Penguins which are conveniently located in the suburbs of Cape Town, a beautiful drive to the Cape of Good Hope, and no tour of the area would be complete without a stop at a local winery.
The next part of the journey took us to Namibia, a mostly desert country which had record rain fall this year. The grass was tall and the animals were on the move enjoying the fresh grass and water. This translated into many encounters with the local wildlife. Most memorable was viewing a herd of Zebra’s numbering in the hundreds, arriving to drink in the fresh rain water, a Leopard crossing the road in front of our vehicle, and night viewing of Black Rhinos, Elephants and Lions... Read more at the watering hole by our accommodations inside Etosha Park. But we did much more than just game viewing. We walked the red sand dunes of Sossusvlei, took a scenic flight over the ship wrecks of the Skeleton Coast, kayaked with hundreds of seals in Walvis Bay, hiked to ancient rock art in Twyfelfontein, toured the ‘Living Desert” finding life even in the desert sands, and tracking Leopards in a wildlife reserve.
This incredible journey was possible due to the travel team at “Nature Travel Africa”. All of our transfers were on time and efficient, accommodations impeccable, and tours seamless. A special thanks to Nicolette Muller and Nick Buys for answering our many questions in timely communications, and making numerous requested changes to our itinerary. Our guides Geoff in Cape Town, Nick, and Delano in Namibia had in depth knowledge of the area, animal behavior, and great interpersonal skills, being in tune with their clients needs and wants.
Africa is a beautiful and diverse continent with so much to experience. Therefore, I have visited many times and at the end of each trip I start planning my next sojourn to Africa’s many wonders with “Nature Travel Africa”.

Best operator to book your honeymoon safari with!
Our wedding was in September and we asked well travelled friends where they suggested us to go and they unanimously said to go to Namibia. I found Nature Travel Namibia (NTN) online and out of all the operators I reached out to, NTN was the most engaged, prompt, professional and tailored operator. After reading a lot of guides, I had some ideas on what I wanted us to see and do and my husband wanted to leave from Victoria Falls. We did a 3 week tour mostly in Namibia with the end of the trip in Botswana and Zimbabwe. We self-drove across Namibia and had the most magical experience, starting the trip with sceneries (canyons, desert, sea) and finishing our Namibia and Botswana experience with Safaris. We love Petra, who organized the whole trip for us, she picked the best hotels - some of the most beautiful and surprising places we could only dream of and didn’t know existed. We had some of the best food in Namibia. We loved the calm and relaxing end of the trip in Botswana. We wouldn’t return... Read more to Zimbabwe- the falls were beautiful but it was enough to be there for 1 night before returning to our home country. We would definitely return to Namibia and Botswana, and would chose NTN again as operator in a heartbeat. We have to say that Hoodia Lodge was maybe the highlight of our trip - even if we stayed in many magical places, the staff and owners were just fantastic. Do book different types of safaris: boat, drive, morning, evening as the animals you can see and the experiences are so unique. We love the hot air balloon tour over the desert, seeing wild animals running down below. The peace and quiet of the desert and nature was fantastic, it was a shock going to a town after getting used to living with the rising and setting of the sun. Since the honeymoon we have grown our family and cannot wait for our kids to be old enough to take them on a safari, shame we will have to wait a while before going back. If you have any doubts on who to chose for a safari honeymoon or luxury holiday, I cannot recommend Petra and NTN more.

Professional and personal excellence in planning and conduct of my awesome Namibian adventure!
I read about Nature Travel Namibia on the net and some positive client reviews made me contact them for planning my 10-days’ trip 31st Jan to 9th Feb 2025. My goal was to see some key mammal and bird species that I had dreamt of for many years as well as to get an overall experience of the unique Namibian nature with its deserts, rocks and coastline. Petra Joell caught my expectations and booked my itinerary and was responsive and energetic in her communication and I immediately felt that I was in good and professional hands. Petra’s husband Buzzy met me at the airport in Windhoek 31st of January and the adventure started right away. Buzzy and I then had 10 epic days together and I really enjoyed his guiding and company, and he managed to find my dream species and much more. It was obvious that Buzzy knew how and when to look for different mammal and bird species and he also demonstrated deep skills when it came to reptiles, amphibians, insects, spiders and plants. We also found some rare birds and Buzzy got to new life birds and it is always a good thing when the guide gets excited. As a biologist since my early childhood and education at the University, it was great for me to be able to discuss the processes and links within the Namibian nature with Buzzy to get a deeper understanding regarding these quite extreme ecosystems. The lodges we stayed at were top class situated in the middle of nature with great food, rooms and service.
From my heart I can really recommend that you go with Nature Travel Namibia in the Southern part of Africa.

Nature Travel Namibia was professional and very effective
I had two days intense birding trip with Nature Travel Namibia, My guide Colandri was amazing, She was so talented especially on voices. She had energy to find out every bird we saw or heard. Our targets was mainly nearly endemic birds, and she founded almost all possible species. Overall everything went very smoothly and like we had agreed. I can recommend Nature Travel Namibia without any hesitation.

Amazing Namibian Christmas Adventure!
Embarking on a travel adventure in Namibia during Christmas 2024 was nothing short of magical. From the moment we arrived, the stunning landscapes, diverse wildlife, and warm hospitality of the Namibian people made our trip unforgettable – Especially that of our guide from Nature Travel Namibia- Lucky G (who quickly became part of our family!)
Our adventure began in Windhoek, the capital city, where we travelled through the city to the wide open roads where we experienced mountain passes and amazing food along the way!
During our stay, we journeyed to the breathtaking Sossusvlei region. The iconic red dunes of Deadvlei were an absolute highlight. Climbing the dunes at sunrise was a surreal experience; the sight of the sun casting golden hues over the landscape was truly magical. We also took the time to explore the nearby Sesriem Canyon, a natural wonder that showcases the incredible geological history of the area, all made even better by the knowledge of Lucky, who never... Read more left any stone unturned when it came to explaining the geography and history of all the places we visited.
Our visit to Swakopmund was a true highlight -a true coastal gem! We stayed here for 2 nights and felt so at home. We can’t wait to return one day. Here we enjoyed quad-biking and sand boarding down the sand dunes. A real holiday highlight.
Towards the end of our itinerary was the wildlife-rich Etosha National Park. We embarked on exhilarating game drives, spotting cheetahs, lions, and even a rare sighting of the endangered black and white rhino. We spent hours mesmerised by the interactions of various species and our guide Lucky explained in detail about every single animal we spotted. A night spent at two of the park’s lodges was equally enchanting, as we enjoyed a starlit dinner under the expansive African sky.
One of the most interesting experiences was visiting the 5000-year-old rock engravings. The warmth and hospitality we encountered were overwhelming from other various guides we met. Engaging with the communities and learning about their traditions and way of life was a highlight of our trip. We left with a deeper understanding of their culture and a newfound appreciation for their resilience and connection to the land.
Spending Christmas in Namibia was unlike any holiday experience we had before. We celebrated at our lodge in Twyfelfontein, where the staff organised a special dinner featuring a fusion of traditional Namibian dishes and festive favourites. The evening was filled with laughter as we made new memories to last a lifetime. It was a beautiful reminder that the essence of the holidays lies in togetherness, regardless of where you are in the world.
Our Christmas adventure in Namibia was a perfect blend of exploration, relaxation, and cultural immersion. The country’s stunning landscapes, diverse wildlife, and rich cultural heritage makes it a top destination for any traveller! Whether you're seeking adventure or a serene escape, Namibia offers something for everyone. I wholeheartedly recommend experiencing this beautiful country with the support of Nature Travel Namibia—it truly was a journey of a lifetime. The lodges Nature Travel Namibia planned for us to stay in were nothing short of amazing. Each with their own unique vibe and experience.
I would like to extend our thanks to Amber and Lucky from Nature Travel Namibia. Our trip was truly made even more special by having Lucky as our guide. We will be forever grateful for this experience. We are already planning our next African adventure!
Thank you,
The Maher Family

Fabulous, accommodating, and on the ball, Nature Travel Namibia handled every detail.
So I found Nature Travel Namibia through an acquaintance in my hometown. Obviously, it’s less expensive to go through a local company than through American tour operators, but without the recommendation, I don’t know that I would have chosen a local company like NTN. I’m so glad I found them!! I worked with a lovely woman via email who planned the private trip with me. We wanted to see Sossesvlei in Namibia and go on Safari, and we wanted to see South African culture. Our tour operator gave us both, and dealt with our dietary needs (2 vegetarians and a GF kid.) To say we ate well is an understatement. I gave a short list of what we were looking for and she provided. My girls and I had studied Apartheid, and we wanted to see Soweto and Constitutional Hill; my husband is a photographer and wanted to see leopards and rhinos. We moved around a lot, and there was someone waiting for us at every stop. My anxiety levels were low after we met our first guide: the whole thing was almost too easy for us! It was a wonderful trip, and when I asked to be tour guide-free in Cape Town at the end, NTN set us up at a convenient location for walking and left tickets at the hotel for Robben Island. Honestly, I cannot stress this enough: NTN took care of us! I was in contact with them only once during the trip, and that was just to say thanks. The guides they gave us were not only competent, but fun to be around. They stuck to our budget, and found ways to stretch it. Seriously, don’t hesitate to use them. They really know what they’re doing. It was a trip of a lifetime for us, and we met some really wonderful people. I feel enormous gratitude for Nature Travel Namibia, and I am already planning to use them again to see Vic Falls and the Okavango Delta: we just need a few years to make that happen. 🤗

It ensures seamless, stress-free trips with personalized itineraries and great support
We had a very smooth experience with Nature Travel Namibia. Petra was very helpful during the planning stage and customized the itinerary according to our preferences. The trip itself went without any hiccups, we had no issues with the pre-booked accommodations, transfers and activities, so we didn't have to communicate with the tour operator apart from a couple of non-urgent questions from us, to which we got the replies.
We are very happy with the experience, it was very unique and memorable, and we definitely recommend Nature Travel Namibia to make the organization of the trip stress-free.

Incredible
The tour was beyond our expectations. The value for what we received was amazing. We stayed at beautiful lodges with incredible hospitality, enjoyed delicious food (and they were very accommodating toward the dietary restrictions in our group), and learned so much from our knowledgeable guide. The planning phase was extremely detailed and hands on, and our guide also allowed us to make adjustments to our trip as we saw fit while we were on it. We appreciated the flexibility and customization. We saw so much on our safari game drives, from wildlife to beautiful flora and scenery. Our guide was great at spotting animals and teaching us about animal habits and their habitat. Our trip to the desert was equally as exciting and we got to enjoy hiking in the beautiful dunes of Namibia. I know that if we had tried to attempt any of this trip on our own our experience would not have been nearly as nice. The coordination from our planner and our guide truly made this trip so incredible. I also believe had we tried to do this experience on our own, we probably would have ended up spending more. Will definitely be exploring with this company for future trips.
