Well-organized and personalized trips in Ethiopia
Our experience with Zagol Ethiopia Tours has been consistently excellent. After a first successful trip to the Danakil Depression, we chose to travel with them again for our visit to Lalibela, and it once again proved to be the right decision.
From the very beginning, the organization was smooth and reassuring. The accommodation was well chosen, offering beautiful views, and the program allowed us to fully enjoy the region, including visits to the rock-hewn churches and a hike to a nearby monastery. Everything felt relaxed, well-paced, and carefully prepared.
What made this trip especially memorable were the cultural moments beyond the standard itinerary. Being welcomed into Muluye’s home for a cooking session—learning how Injera is made and sharing a traditional coffee ceremony—was a genuine and enriching experience.
Overall, this was another very well-designed journey, combining efficient logistics with meaningful local encounters. A great choice for travelers who value flexibility, authenticity, and personal attention when discovering Ethiopia.

Our tour operator organized everything perfectly and was so friendly.
We were paired with two guides, Melaku and "Geech". Both of whom were amazing. Very friendly and knowledgeable about the areas we visited and the local flora and fauna. "Geech" is the best driver in the business and Melaku took us to his childhood home to have a coffee ceremony with his mom and his sister. Unforgettable additions to the trip. If Ethiopia is not on your list it should be. Timket is absolutely a must. But there is too much to see in one trip. Will definitely be going back for the Omo Valley.
Weekend trip to Lalibela.
An amazing spiritual journey deep in the heart of Ethiopia. Lalibela was an absolute amazing trip so rich with culture and history thanks to our fabulous tour guide Muluye. He gave us a lot of intriguing information and he knew all the best spots for pictures. He also invited us to his humble home for a coffee cermony. Ansolutely amazing weekend trip and a must visit in Ethiopia

Great trip experience. The tour guide is very helpful.
Even there is an unexpected happening, the tour guide is very helpful to solve the problems. They care a lot of our trip and feelings. Our trip was not that smooth at the beginning because of the airport system problems, but we could still visited all the things we wanna see. Thanks to the guide rescheduled the plan of our trip.

An Unforgettable Ethiopia Journey Made Possible by an Amazing Local Team
The entire trip to Ethiopia was truly unforgettable.
We asked Zagol to help us plan a nine-day itinerary. We only told him what places and activities we hoped to see, and he took care of everything else , accommodations, hotels, and transportation , allowing us to travel smoothly throughout Ethiopia.
I especially loved the visits to the southern tribes. Our driver, Reshid, was very responsible and kind. We were able to see many tribes and take part in different activities. Although our original itinerary was affected by unexpected flight issues and a virus situation, we were still able to witness the bull-jumping ceremony and visit the Mursi people. We also saw Banna children walking on stilts, which made us incredibly happy.
Our guide, Mulie, is also a wonderful person. His explanations of the rock-hewn churches in Lalibela were extremely detailed and insightful, which greatly enhanced our understanding of the history and culture.
One thing to be aware of is Ethiopian Airlines, which can be quite chaotic, with frequent delays and unexpected issues. During this trip, my luggage was lost twice during flight connections. However, Mulie has strong local connections and was very dedicated in helping us resolve the problems. In the end, we were able to recover our luggage successfully.
Overall, despite the challenges, the experience was deeply meaningful, and the local team truly made a huge difference
Good Tour
All the churches are located within close proximity, typically just a block or less apart, which made moving between them easy. Our guide provided ample resting time between visits, which suited me perfectly as I tend to tire easily.
Since I spent two nights in Lalibela over the weekend, I had the opportunity to attend the early morning service on Sunday. This was an extraordinary experience; I witnessed priests dancing while drumming, and I also had the chance to observe a beautiful wedding ceremony. Seeing the church filled with people was simply amazing.
The monolithic churches themselves are remarkably intriguing. My guide offered insightful explanations, enhancing my understanding of the history .
It's advisable to prepare some small denomination notes to give to the priests overseeing the churches and to those who help watch your shoes while entering.
The monastery, separate from the main churches, was relatively small and somehow disappoingng compared to the grandeur of the other sites. However, the treasures revealed by the priest certainly made the visit worthwhile. Among the most captivating items was an ancient Bible, notable for its intricate illustrations.

The most wonderful, connected and experienced guide I could have ever hoped for in Lalibela.
Zagola Ethiopia Tours was an amazing experience, I could not have imagined a better guide and cultural amabassador to Lalibela.
With such in-depth knowledge of the stunning history and surroundings, it was to say simply, being guided by an expert of the region through a local's eyes.
I personally had the trip of a lifetime, one that I will remember forever, and in great parts thanks to the expert guidance, leading with the infamous Ethiopian hospitality, and cultural sharing and compassion by Zagol Ethiopia Tours.
I highly recommend these professionals and Lalibela locals who have the inside track on whatever it is you are looking for, and because of them I cannot wait to return again to learn more through their unique eyes and layers of knowledge.
Thank you for some of the truly best memories Zagol Ethiopia Tours! See you again soon!
