Great
4/5

This tour was amazing. Highly recommend the 8 day trip to Maasai Mara, Lake Nakuru, Amboseli and Mombasa. I had a blast and loved my tour guide, Kennedy. He was so nice, funny, knowledgeable, and overall just great to be around. I feel very lucky to have had him. The value was great. The only bad thing I would say about this tour is the boxed lunches. They give you absolutely terrible sandwiches, mediocre snacks and extremely dry chicken. Some days they don’t even give you protein. I highly recommend bringing your own mustard and/or mayo because the sandwiches are so dry for lunch. The breakfast and dinners were good though. For the price we pay, we should be getting WAY better lunches. But I still highly recommend this tour regardless because every tour in Kenya seems to give everyone terrible lunches no matter which company you book with. They are quick to respond via WhatsApp.

ETA safari: A Decent Kenya Experience Worth Booking, but Shop Around Independently for Tanzania
4/5

ETA Adventure Safari – 10-Day Kenya & Tanzania Safari with budget accommodations
(Masai Mara · Amboseli · Serengeti · Ngorongoro | June 2026)
________________________________________
Why We Chose ETA
Sales contact Derrick responded quickly, was patient with customization, and flexible with pricing. This is what made us choose ETA over Super Eagles' rep, Chanson Kimani.
Note: ETA Adventure Safari and Super Eagles Safari are the same company, so the overall travel quality is trustworthy.

🇰🇪 Kenya — Highly Recommended
Masai Mara is smaller than Serengeti, which means animals are more concentrated and you can get surprisingly close to them. We strongly recommend booking at least 3 full days here.
▸ Our guide Symoh was a standout — experienced, well-connected with local rangers and other safari operators, and knew where to find animals. His network meant we could quickly reach spots where wildlife had just been spotted.
→ One downside: his Land Cruiser was in noticeably worse shape than other operators' vehicles — less comfortable seats, slower speed, and a bumpier ride. We hope the company invests in upgrading his car.
▸ Amboseli — handled by a partner agency, also great. Request Osutua Rafiki Camp specifically, it's better than Nyati Safari Camp.
▸ Food throughout Kenya was good. Budget accommodations offer better value than Tanzania's equivalent
▸ One hiccup: Derrick initially booked us into Manyatta Camp by mistake instead of Flair Camp. After we flagged it, he corrected it quickly. Just a heads up — Flair Camp is the better budget option, with nicer dining and rooms.

🇹🇿 Tanzania — Worth Managing Expectations
▸ Derrick told us ETA operates Tanzania directly, but it's actually handled by a third party: Seven Wonders Safaris. This matters for pricing — upgrading from basic camping to Shuhudia Camp & Hhand Lodge cost us an extra $100 USD per person per night through ETA. When we checked directly, Hhand Lodge was around $180 USD per room — could expect cheaper price via agency.
▸ Our honest suggestion: get independent quotes for Tanzania before committing through ETA.
▸ Our guide Tony was warm and very knowledgeable — genuinely enjoyable to be around. However, his vehicle's walkie-talkie seemed broken, which meant he couldn't pick up real-time wildlife updates in Serengeti and Ngorongoro. This gap made a noticeable difference compared to our Kenya experience, where Symoh's connections helped us find animals much more efficiently.
⚠️ Stomach warning: Me & my friend — on separate days — had stomach issues after drinking hot tea/coffee on different day made by the in-vehicle chef. If you have a sensitive stomach, stick to food and drinks provided by the lodge or camp.

📋 A Few Things ETA Should Improve
▸Communication needs work. Throughout the trip, we were constantly handed off between different drivers and guides (it’s fine) — but ETA rarely told us in advance who was coming next. This caused unnecessary confusion.
Before arriving, we asked Derrick for our Nairobi pickup time and he said "the driver will let you know." We ended up eating breakfast in a rush, only to arrive at the meeting point and wait a long time for other travelers from different operators. A simple message before would have helped us a lot not to book the room with breakfast.
▸Transfer driver in chief Jacob was friendly and drove well — but was sometimes inflexible about timing. As mentioned, day one hotel pick-up was like that. And the last day he said schedules couldn't be adjusted, yet ended up changing it himself. Not a dealbreaker, but a bit frustrating.

Glad i did it!
5/5

I joined a shared tour and was lucky to have the same driver and guide, James Mwaura, throughout the entire trip. He was incredibly fun, answered all of our questions, and made the experience even more enjoyable.

During the safaris, he always managed to find amazing spots where we could see all kinds of wildlife, especially the big cats. His knowledge and tracking skills were truly impressive.

The low-budget accommodation consisted of camp stays with covered tents, each equipped with a private bathroom and shower, which was much more comfortable than expected.

Overall, I can highly recommend both the tour and James as a driver and guide!

A very satisfying trip

The back-end response was very timely and effective; the service throughout the entire process was excellent, and the itinerary was very well arranged; the price-performance ratio was extremely high, especially the hotel in Mombasa for the last two days, which was a highlight!

Excellent Experience - Well-Thought Itinerary, Great Service/Coordination team
5/5

My first safari experience was a resounding success thanks to the Eta team and my wonderful game driver, Brian! When I began to explore safari options (looking for roughly a week long trip), I was impressed by Eta's itinerary and cost point. The itinerary was comprehensive, including fees for the game reserves, lodging, and all meals - there was very little as well as optional activities (which I highly recommend participating in!). From the get-go, Derrick, my main point of contact at Eta, was patient and thorough in answering my (many) questions. He went above and beyond throughout the remainder of the process, checking in with me throughout the safari to make sure I had a good experience.

The actual safari experience was lovely. We saw amazing wildlife and explored many different terrains within Kenya. I embarked on the 7-day itinerary which included visits to Masai Mara, Lake Naivasha, Lake Nakuru, Hell's Gate, and Amboseli game parks. I wasn't sure what to expect from a safari, but a lot of time was spent in the car, sometimes spent off-roading or traversing bumpy roads - if you have back problems or other mobility constraints, come prepared! I also want to remind people that you are tracking wild animals. There is nothing your driver can do to control if the lions will be awake when you see them or if they'll even be visible in the first place; I only bring this up as there were several entitled people who would whine if the Cheetah we saw wouldn't magically wake up and smile for them - please don't be that person!

That aside, my driver Brian, did an excellent job at tracking down rare animals and making sure that we got up close and personal to the big five and more. Brian is also extremely funny, knowledgeable, and can answer almost any question you have along the way. We had a few technical issues (broken down car, flat tire in a game park) and Brian remained cool and collected until they were resolved. I was also impressed by the fact that we were able to find a replacement vehicle within an hour of our car breaking down, allowing us to proceed with our safari with little interruption.

I highly recommend participating in optional activities - the Masai Mara visit and Lake Naivasha boat ride were some of my favorite experiences of the safari! Overall, the overall costs of the safari are well worth the money. I personally upgraded to the "mid-range" accommodations, which actually ended up being some pretty nice hotels along the way. If you can afford it, I think the few hundred dollar upgrade in comparison to the budget option is worth the splurge.

Couple of other notes - there were a few minor issues throughout my safari, however, the Eta team responded to them quickly. I had a situation where one of the hotels I was staying got overbooked for one of the two nights I was supposed to stay there. While unideal to need to switch hotels, Eta was able to replace that with a comparable accommodation and everything worked out fine. Another piece I'll note is at times there seemed to be a disconnect between what was being communicated between the safari company and our driver (e.g. which passengers were staying at which lodgings, etc.) - this didn't impact the overall experience but sometimes lead to some confusion or additional communication needed between safari company and driver.

Everything said and done - Eta provided a fantastic safari experience and I could not recommend Brian more! I loved going on safari in Kenya and could not recommend this tour more!

Francis made the trip a once in a life time experience with his expert knowledge and skills.
5/5

Highly recommend the experience. If possible request Francis as your guide. He knew all the spots to see the animals from the best angles and worked hard to ensure an informed and positive experience. The communication and logistics were handled well and things went smoothly.

Amazing Kenya Safari
5/5

I would like to give my guide, Francis, the strongest recommendation. He is an exceptionally professional guide who can help you plan almost everything—from organizing your trip to finding animals and positioning you for the best possible viewing angles. During our days in the Masai Mara, he helped us spot over 50 different animal species, including the famous "Big Five." He is also incredibly patient, taking the time to explain the names, characteristics, and habits of each animal. He is truly a knowledgeable naturalist and an excellent teacher—patient, professional, and arguably the best guide you could find in Kenya.

Later, Eric, who guided us to Hell’s Gate National Park, was also a very enthusiastic guide. He was thoughtful and well-organized, helping us interact with the animals and sharing a wealth of knowledge about wildlife. Choosing him turned out to be an excellent decision.
