Wonderful Family Safari in SA
5/5

My family and I were very excited to go on safari and I went online to do some basic research. Although I am an experienced traveler, I had never been to Africa and was overwhelmed with the options available for a first safari. Luckily, I found an itinerary by Roho Ya Chui with fantastic reviews that fit perfectly into our schedule. Four nights in a safari camp and three in Cape Town.
I sent an inquiry and was contacted by Ute, who was immediately helpful with my planning. Although she was in South Africa and I in New York, we arranged a mutually convenient time and spoke on Skype to arrange the itinerary. She was very flexible, especially when we added a fourth person last minute.

The trip itself exceeded all my expectations! We spent four nights in Kirkman's Kamp, an intimate luxury camp in the Sabi Sands reserve. We were paired with a tracker and ranger for the duration of our stay, and they took us on game drives to see animals twice daily. We saw all the big 5 and more. The quality of the game viewing was more than I could have hoped. We had a leopard walk right by our vehicle! The ranger was also very knowledgeable about these animals, which meant we learned as well as saw.

Having booked through Roho Ya Chui, we didn't have to worry about internal flights, airport transfers or the hotel in Cape Town. It was a wonderful experience and my only regret is I wish I had stayed longer.

Two wonderful weeks in Zambia
5/5

I found RYC on a website. They proposed an interesting tour in Zambia. I had a number of times e-mail contact with Ute Sonnenberg of RYC. She organised our tour very well. She was very patient and always seemed to be in a good mood. The trip she organised for us was very good.

We were most impressed by the efficiency with which our safari was arranged.

Prior to our safari Ute was very helpful with making suggestions and answering my questions. During our stay we found that everything ran like clockwork. We would like to have been contacted by her during our stay just to confirm that we were happy with everything and that all was going well but it must be said that when I needed to e-mail her I received a reply very quickly.
The safari itself lived up to all expectations. It would have been improved by our not being thrown together with our lodge neighbours all the time - at all meals and all drives, which is too much since some people don't necessarily get on with each other too well.
Food and drink was plentiful and lodge staff were pleasant and helpful though the whole culture of giving prescribed tips to particular members of the team was rather mercenary. We couldn't help feeling that our ranger and tracker gave all their attention to the (obviously) wealthy couple we were paired up with - presumably in anticipation of a larger tip.
The manager made up for this, however, with her kind concern when I was ill. Overall a very enjoyable safari.

A seamless adventure, exceeding my expectations.
5/5

Communications with Ute were excellent. She offered help with our airline reservations (which I had made myself) when things got a little messed up.

We had no knowledge of how to plan our trip, or what to expect. Everything we had hoped to be able to do, we accomplished. The safari itself was stunning, wonderful accommodations and extremely professional and knowledgable guides. The assistance and advice we received made our trip memorable.

Wild wise
5/5

The Safari in Serengeti NP was exciting, not only by the wild encounters, but also by the guidance of Ute of Roho Ya Chui.
Utes mission, vision, operational abilities, transportation, lodges, were excellent, and her attention for details in service, philosophic attitude and wisdom were an extra gift. She is a photo-genius. She knows how to touch and snap the essence. Ute is a ‘’Wildwhisperer’’, empathetic in locating, meeting, and ‘’culture’’ of animals, including birds. She can make animals at ease and curious. Up to: ‘’listen what they tell you’’. I give her 5 stars!

A Fantastic journey-Serengeti Migration
5/5

A dream of me and my husband, both photo enthusiasts, was to go to Tanzania's Serengeti National Park, to experience the Serengeti migration and to make some good pictures.
We knew that over a million animals participate in the Serengeti Migration. So without experienced guides it would be rather impossible to cover it in 2 weeks time.
Ute Sonnenberg of Roho Ya Chui is such an experienced guide. With her help, tips and advice this adventure became an experience for life.

My African dream came true
5/5

The accommodation in Kenya, Masai Mara in Kichwa Tembo Camp was well selected, the driver of the camp and especially the photo safari with the owner of Roho Ya Chui was an experience. I was able to photograph the Big Five and the absolute highlight was the river crossing of zebras by the Mara River while being attacked by crocodiles. In the evening, the images were discussed, I have received a lot of tips and suggestions. The weather in December was ideal. It will not be my last trip to Africa with Roho Ya Chui.

Perfect Photo Safaris
5/5

I did a photo safari with RYC back in Dec 2012 / Jan 2013. I had 1 week under the guidance of my good friend Ute Sonnenberg and while I went into this event thinking I know already most about wildlife photography (I am photographing since more that 40 years and have done multiple photo safaris on my own in the past) I learned quickly that I had entered a totally different, educating and same time entertaining adventure.

Ute is a great teacher, friend and photographer and I really enjoyed the time I spent with her in the bush trying different photography techniques while also discussing the results and constantly improving!

Definitely not my last photo safari with Ute and RYC!

Amazing Africa
5/5

As an Africa-lover I try to travel to his continent as much as I can. The trip with Roho Ya Chui was a real amazing one! During this trip I felt as a real African. No hurry and the bush was truly mine. The accommodations were selected with care and our guide was very patient and cared about our wishes. Even vegetarians, as I am, can eat in such a luxurious way, delicious!
Being one with nature is a gift and traveling with Roho Ya Chui a welcome extra present.
