Highly Recommend! CrissCross delivered a personalized & absolutely magical trip to Namibia!
5/5

André and Michelle impressed us immediately! Before they suggested our itinerary, they took the time to get to know our family and really listened to what we were looking for in our trip to Namibia. Traveling with teens, we needed to balance safari with active adventures - CrissCross delivered a fantastic itinerary to enjoy the wonderful diversity of Namibia. The lodges / accomodations, food & hospitality were excellent! André & Michelle also organized a couple of special surprises for my boys at the lodges to celebrate their birthdays.

We spent 12 days in Namibia with our amazing guide, Maddie. As a local, she shared all about the history of Namibia, while showing us the beautiful landscape & pointing out game. She also added some personal touches like taking us to a local vinyard - a wonderful and special treat! And it was a very special time to visit Namibia as it had just rained after a 7 year drought. So we had the opportunity to see "green" Namibia. It made it a bit more challenging to see game, but the landscape was absolutely breathtaking!

Our trip was a perfect balance of game drives and adventures in the dunes. We started off with the safari portion of our trip heading to N/a'an Ku Se, Okonjati, Onguma and Etosha - each with their own private game drives and special activites (lion feeding, sundowners, bush dinner, etc.). Then we headed to Damaraland and the spectacular red rocks & cave art before starting our dune adventures. Our teen boys especially loved the adventures that had been organized out of Swakopmund & Sossuvlei - 4X4 in the dunes, fat biking in the dunes, quads & a hot air balloon ride. My teens were ready for more, so they ran up Big Daddy Dune and "skied" down while we visited Deadsvlei. Our last stop was the Kalahari desert before our guide took us to one of her favorite restaurants in Windhoek.

We absolutely loved our vacation and highly recommend CrissCross to deliver a truly personalized vacation!

Excellent tour operator. Criss Cross organized a fantastic and diversified trip in Namibia,
5/5

As we discovered the proposed tour " 16-day Namibian diversity" on Safaribookings, we contacted André and Michelle, owners of Criss Cross.
They were very reactive and always available.
We didn't change anything in the program which is both complete to discover most highlights of the country and to profit totally of each step.
Our guide and driver Dewald, a native Namibian, had an excellent knowledge of the country, geography, history, people and animals and provided us excellent explanation. But, first of all, he's a good, attentive and friendly person, we spent so good moments with him.
Organization was perfect with never any problem.
The choice of the lodges/hotels was also excellent: many were luxurious but not too expansive, some more modest but located in fantastic places and very confortable.
After one night in Windhoek, we spent 2 days at Mount Etjo safari lodge: it's a a very big private reserve where you can see most of wild animals, esp. rhinos during good shared game-drives.
At Etosha we stayed at Overland safari lodge, nice and luxurious, located in a private reserve. you can see rhinos coming very close to the lodge and the swimming-pool.
Grootberg lodge has probably one of the most fantastic view of Namibia, overlooking the Klip river valley. There, we would recommend rhino-tracking experience and the sundowner drive.
Perfectly integrated in the landscape of hills with big red boulders, Mowani mountain camp is one of our preferred lodges with also a fantastic view. They provide desert elephants game-drives with good chances to see them and visit of Twyfelfontein engraved rocks.
Cape cross gave us the opportunity to see thousands of seals, the lodge, comfortable, is located in the middle of nowhere, so exotic!
The Strand hotel in Swakopmund is extremely confortable with a see view. They have excellent restaurants esp. for see-foods and oysters.
From Swakopmund, we had a nice cruise in Walwis Bay and a so beautiful drive into the dunes of Sandwich harbor.
The Mirage is a very comfortable lodge, near Sossusvlei and close to the balloons safari departure. in a first time we didn't choose this balloon adventure, our guide recommended to do it, and it is really exceptional! Then, a drive to the so beautiful dunes of Sossusvlei and Deadvlei.
Finally, we spent one night at Bagatelle boutique hotel, an excellent lodge in Kalahari. The last game drive...
It was a dream tour, certainly one of the best of our life.
Thanks Criss Cross, thanks Dewald

Family tour Namibia 2026
3/5

We delegated completely the arrangement of the vacation to CrissCross understanding thatched were the experts. We regretted to have done this instead of putting more time on it ourselves. To know that unexpectedly most iconic places might not be in the itinerary or you would just pass by ( so you need to know which ones these are , so that you can check that they are in the itinerary and with adequate timing). Review in detail the ratings of the booked lodges, some were disappointing as well as the number of rooms that you really need and insist to book what you want. We spent one day in a domain which was more a zoo than a wild reserve and no visit to Etosha (we just cross drived it ).Know that most of the driving is on gravel roads and check that driving time is not more than 3 hours per day, in reality driving time is more than you can read in the itinerary. Some days we spent more than 8 h sitting in a car. This was an average quality salary but not luxury. Briefing prior departing was average, Know that in winter you really need winter clothes in the evening and mornings, in particular driving in open cars. Some of the restaurants in the evening were also under-heated . Guide was however knowledgeable and did his best as disappointments were popping up

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are genuinely sorry that your safari did not meet your expectations.

Every itinerary we create is customized based on our clients' interests, budget, travel pace, and priorities. Before departure, we provide a detailed itinerary for review and approval so that any requested changes—including parks, lodges, driving times, or accommodations—can be made in advance.

Your itinerary was designed as a mid-range safari, which reflected the travel style and budget selected during the planning process. It was not sold or priced as a luxury safari. The 10-day journey included accommodations, guided safari activities, most meals, and extensive travel across Namibia, providing excellent value while remaining within the agreed budget.

Regarding accommodations, we worked closely with the lodges to accommodate your family's rooming preferences. Most lodges in Namibia do not permit three adults to occupy a standard room, and accommodations designed for three adults were unavailable when the trip was booked. Lodge occupancy limits are established by each property and must be followed regardless of the bedding configuration. At one lodge, the property was able to provide a complimentary upgrade to a higher-category chalet that accommodated three adults. While we appreciated that gesture, room configurations, assignments and upgrades are ultimately determined solely by each property based on availability and its policies.

Namibia is a vast country, and travel between destinations often involves gravel roads and longer driving days than many first-time visitors anticipate. While we provide estimated driving times, actual travel can vary depending on road conditions, wildlife sightings, and comfort stops.

Regarding Etosha, your itinerary included traversing the park as part of your safari experience rather than spending multiple nights inside the reserve. Likewise, the wildlife reserve you reference was selected based on the agreed itinerary and overall routing for your trip.

We are pleased to hear that you found your guide knowledgeable and committed to making the best of every situation. Our guides work incredibly hard to provide an exceptional experience, and we appreciate your recognition of his efforts.

While we regret that your experience did not align with your expectations, we were encouraged that the other travelers in your group rated the accommodations, dining, safari experiences, and guiding very highly. Every guest experiences travel differently, and we remain proud of the personalized journeys we create and are grateful for all feedback that helps us refine our journeys.
