Fantastic company, Fantastic Safari
I very rarely write reviews but on this occasion I thought it appropriate. I have never been on a Safari before and didn’t know what on earth I was doing when I was booking, there are so many options and I didn’t know where to start.
We emailed Norbert and he was very prompt with his replies, we didn’t need to exchange money until we were collected for the Safari, which was reassuring as other companies wanted 50% deposit.
We were picked up on time from our Hotel, I was a pain and didn’t have USD (I thought I could get them from an ATM in Dar which I couldn’t). Our tour guide (forgive me I have forgotten his name) was absolutely wonderful and drove me to a bank and waited for over and hour for me to sort out some USD’s.
The Safari was relaxing, we chose when we wanted to be collected each day (3 day Mikumi Safari), he knew a lot about the animals and we found ourselves seeing some really fantastic sights! Elephants meters in front of us, lions mating and much more.
I was really thankful that we booked through Selous!
We stayed in the TanSeiss accommodation which was also great.

Excellent Safari, excellent value for money
We did a 5-day safari to Mikumi and Selous. From the moment I sent the first inquiry about the safari, everything went smooth. Norbert replied really fast to my emails and messages on whatsapp and was always willing to answer questions about our trip and also helped us with booking domestic flights tickets for our trip to Zanzibar afterwards.
The first day of the safari, our guide was there on time to pick us up. Throughout the trip he has been very helpful and arranged everything according plan. He was very familiar with the area and shared his knowledge and experience about Tanzania, the areas we visited in particular and all the animals we saw.
The hotel and camp we stayed were relatively basic, but clean and all things we needed were there (and for us part of our safari experience as well). The food that was served was overall of good quality.
Definitely recommend people to use Selous Explorer for their safari in Tanzania!

3 days in the reserve of Selous, the dream! The accommodation at the top (lodge), exceptional service, meals and service at the top. The safari will remain unforgettable, the animals were superb (just the lions who did not want to show themselves), fantastic! Thank you very much

Excelent and fantastic tour
We went for a 10 Days tour in the Southern Circuit and visited Mikumi, Ruaha, Udzungwa and Seluos. The tour was excelent and very professionally organized from beginning to end. All Communication with Norbert Before the trip was fast, easy and very informative. Our guide Safiri and our chef Rachidi were the most Lovely persons we have met. Everything was excelent organized during the tour, we were picked up at our hotel in Dar and they were very flexible and listened to our wishes all the time. The car was nice and comfortable. Safiri was very good of finding the most Beautiful animals and good at birds too. Rachidi made the food with lots of love.
It´s a long trip to go to Ruaha but it´s definitely Worth it, it was our favorite Place.
We definitely recommend everyone to go with Selous Explorer! You will be very satified!

Excellent service and communication
I was really satisfied with the services provided by Selous Explorer. Before the trip, I communicated via emails with Norbert and all the communications were fast and clear. Despite the fact that I hadn't had any safari experience, it was Norbert that made me feel certain that the trip would go well and I would have a wonderful experience.
When I was there, the driver picked me up from the hotel on time. The safari guides in Selous, for boat safari and game drive, were knowledgeable and tried their best to help find my preferred animals. The cook was very good also; I enjoyed the food a great deal.
Thank you very much for great memory from Selous.

Excellent tour
We have been very pleased with the 3 days tour to Selous NP operated by Selous Explorer. The accommodation at the Hippocamp has exceeded our expectations - we tought we would sleep in a tent, but there was actually a room with proper bed, toilet and shower. Although I forgot to inform Norbert and his team that we are vegetarians, our cook Benson has made good meals and snacks for us.
The car used for the safari was in really good shape. Although the road to the reserve was flooded and full of mud, our driver and guide (Nesto) has done a great job, getting us there safely. He was also pretty knowledgeable and provided a great drive through the park - we got to see loads of animals (from vultures to lions and elephants).

Private safari for 2 for 1 day. Excellent service and experienced driver!
We took 1 day safari to Mikumi for 2 people.
The communication with Norbert through emails was clear and fast.
The driver Nestor took us from our hotel in Dar es Salam at 5:00 am (on time) and brought us to Mikumi National Park. He transfered his jeep into Game car and we started safari. Nestor was telling us information about animals and showed all the animals to us. We were very close to them - 1-2 meters.
In the middle of our safari tour we had lunch, which was really tasty! A special "thanks" for this.
After lunch we continued with our safari. After safari Nestor brought us back to our hotel in Dar es Salam at 8:50pm.
We are really satisfied with the service and the driver. Thank you so much, Selous Explorer!

Nice experience in Mikumi
We booked the 3 days Mikumi safari and had a great experience. Contact and communication with Norbert was excellent prior to the safari start and we got picked up as promised and on time. The driver/guide drove carefully, planned in for enough toilet breaks on the way.
The game drives were absolutely great, and we saw all you can possibly see in Mikumi. Our guide Otto did a good mix of driving and breaks and explications (and adapted very fast onto what we wanted to see in particular) and he did always respect "good practice for wildlife tourism" (we saw many exemples of guides in the park who didn't and chased the animals with the cars). Otto was very knowledgeable, answered to all questions, but was sometimes a bit too quiet and sparing of words during explications (but still better than someone trying to entertain you non-stop).
Food was perfectly organised: my friend and I were worried about prepared lunch packages since we have both special diet requirements, but we always stopped at restaurants and we were able to choose from the menu - especially the stop at the lodge in the park sitting close to a water source and watching the animals, was amazing.
Overall we had a great experience and can recommend to the fullest going with Selous Explorer.
Amazing experience, amazing staff!
From the moment we were collected from our apartment in dar to our return, we were given only the best hospitality. After our arrival, our guide unfortunately fell unwell, but there was another guide assigned to us very quickly who was very knowledgeable and saw to our every need. His name was Henrik and he waited on us and guided us on our safari. He made sure that we had seen everything we had set out to and had an absolute wealth of knowledge. Our walking safari was sensational and the bushman didi was brilliant. He made it feel like a true wilderness experience, both thrilling and humourous. Our accommodation at hippocamp was breathtaking, from the veiw o the sunset to the starry sky. We would definitely recommend them, only wish that we had longer!
