1/5

I had a very stressful and disappointed experience with this this tour and Tom Ocharo as organizer of this mess.
Tour was for 10 nights and after 3 nights many things went wrong. My itirinary was changed doni had to spend senseless long hours on a bus going back and forth.
Tom itself spoke very bad English and communication with him was exhausting.
He was very responsive when he wanted my money but then when trouble arises he went silent.
Tom mixed up a lot of things and made my vacation very stressful.
Tour itself is not worth the money. Accommodation in fact are very cheap if you book them directly. Food was very bad.
First night after transatlantic flight I was put in a really horrible hotel and spent sleepless night listening to all night music from next door night club.
I specifically asked how many people will be in a safari car and was told by Tom no more than 7.
In fact there was 9 of us which made the whole trip very uncomfortable.

I do not recommend this company to anyone. Lots of things went wrong and there were lots of misrepresentations of what company is offering. Not worth even remotely the money spent

Great service and excellent price.

We had a really knowledgeable guide called Animal and he made sure everyone had a great time and got to see lots of animals. The company were reliable and I was happy with all the accommodation and food. All in all I really enjoyed this safari and thought it was excellent value for money.

4/5

It was a great and very affordable safari trip. Big 5s are there!! And much much more

Individual ratings and why:
Safari transportation staff: 5 stars. Why? Our driver was extremely friendly, funny, spoke very well English and it was a pleasure riding in his van. (Name: Sammy)

Onsite-payment: 2 stars. Why? Besides the upfront payment online, the rest was enquired in cash; I thought it can be done via credit card. There was no information on cash payment (at least I don’t remember seeing this). This crashed our liquid money and we couldn’t by many presents after all.

Transportation: 4 stars. Why? There was some vehicle switching in the beginning and our luggage was in a different van, no big deal- but it’s always better to have your own luggage in the trunk behind you. It was guaranteed that the other vans will reach the same destination, but Africa is Africa.

Cars/Vans: 5 stars. Why? The van was always cleaned overnight (by our driver) and there was not one spot of dirt the next days. All trash items which were left behind during the day have been removed by the driver.

Eco-Camp: 3.5 stars. Why? The eco camp was fine, remember you stay in tents. The camp was very clean and the staff friendly. The only conflict was that there is only power (to charge electronic) for two hours in the morning and two hours in the evening. This not just only affected charging cameras or phones, it also affected the lights in the tents. Please bring flashlights and hang up in the tent, otherwise you run in the dark. Power in the morning was difficult (5-7am), you only get technically one hour of charging in, because the tours start at 6am. (We had a solar flashlight with USB connector; that means you can use the flashlight for light and the self-charging solar panel, you can re-charge your phone on the go).
Food: 5 stars. Why? The food provided in the camp was plenty and nothing exotic or odd. There are several choices to take from the buffet. Traveling with children, there was plenty they liked. The food on the road for an all day trip was packed and prepared with love. Nice things and plenty.

Water supply: 4 stars. Why? Since this is an all-meals-included safari, water goes with it. I believe it was 1 liter per person per day, which is pretty good and plenty. But, depending on from which operator you are booking from, the water might be at the camp or in one of the vans. Our water was not at the camp and in one of the vans, which had left the camp after we were dropped off. We made friends and borrowed a liter bottle from others to drink and to use for brushing teeth. That was not great organized, but manageable – since we were all one big family.

Again, I can only recommend this safari- it’s fun and a nice getaway; and we will do it again.
I went with my two children (13+14) –kids friendly (…. I must say that my two daughters are very well behaved, and know the rules)

One last note: We went in February- bring warm clothing. It gets real cold at night in the tent and game drives start at 6am; chill temps.
Don’t forget the pack some sun screen lotion, the sun gets strong during the day.

Amazing! Fabulous! Wonderful in every way
5/5

Safari with family (including Mother-in-law and 2 teenage girls) was everything we hoped for and more! Saw the big 5 in first 2 days of our 4 day Masaai Mara, Nakuru, and Naivasha trip - guide Zack was amazing at finding the animals, excellent driver, and very knowledgeable too. Accomodations and meals were just as described - no unpleasant surprises. Tom (manager) was great making changes to our arrival date and met us at the airport. We always felt safe and well cared for which made it easy to enjoy the wonderful wildlife and African countryside.

big five in five days with five-star-James

...fantastic trip through massai mara, lake nakuru and lake naivasha. Have seen so many with the flexible, experienced and friendly driver James.
And all for just a fair price.

Unsatisfactory
2/5

I paid $250 for this service with tour guide but our driver James was a driver only. He didn’t provide any info about the Masai or animals. Further, he yelled at us in the beginning of the tour for taking a photo when we didn’t know the rules. This ruined the mood of the safari entirely. He also made us feel bad for expecting water free when it was in the itinerary. Lastly, English literacy and customer service in general was poor. For $250 I expected more :(

Good value for money - great experience
4/5

We (family of 5) did a seven-day tented safari tour with Wild Safaris & Travel in an open-roof 9 seater bus that we shared with another couple. The bus was rather old but convenient, we could see the wildlife very well. The driver/guide was friendly and knowledgeable. He did not speak a lot spontaneously, but he was always willing to answer questions and was open for suggestions. We must note that on one day, we did not feel safe in the bus (irresponsible overtaking on the road from Nairobi to Mombasa). After we asked to slow down, it did not happen that explicitely anymore.
All parks were amazing - packed with wildlife, we saw the big five and many more. The food was OK but a bit monotonuous, the camps were basic, but friendly. I can definitely reccommend this tour.
