Want a trip of a lifetime? Look for further!
5/5

We spent 14 days with Kay Adventure Tours across Kenya, Tanzania and Zanzibar. Easily one of the best trips of our lives!

Maureen was very professional from the start, giving us a few different options to choose from and being extremely patient with all the questions we had about the trip, visas, flights and everything else - they were many but she never failed to answer. She came to meet us in Nairobi at the beginning of our tour to give us a final briefing and introduce us to our Kenyan guide, Ben. What followed was 8 days spent travelling across Samburu with its quite unique giraffes and zebras you can see only there, Lake Nakuru's rhinos and flamingoes and Masai Mara's spectacular scenery and wildlife, there were animals at every turn and the sunsets beyond description! Ben was always on the lookout for where to go next to see more animals and was never bothered by questions. We then crosses into Tanzania, where Ahmani picked us up. The huge plains of Serengeti hosted up for the next couple of days, with Ahmani masterfully revealing all the secrets of plants and animals alike. We were lucky enough to see a pack of lionesses hunting zebras just in front of us thanks to his excellent prediction of where to park the jeep before everybody else, really wonderful to see and the zebras made it out alive :-). A few hours spent in the absurdly beautiful Ngorongoro crater with its abundant wildlife closed our safari before being dropped off at Arusha airport and whisked over to Zanzibar for four relaxing days on the beach.

Final tally: big five and ugly five seen multiple times and almost all the small five, but those are, well, small and very difficult to find anyway! Good food throughout, especially in Serengeti and Zanzibar. Great people at every corner and the tranquillity of having Maureen ready to support us a message away, should her regular check-ins not have been enough. A great trip, very carefully planned by people that clearly know a thing or two about safaris. We will not hesitate to rely on Kay Adventure Tours again in the future and suggest them to family and friends planning a trip in the area!

A great experience , a trip i'll never forget. And a tourgide how understood his job, thanks Julius
5/5

From the day my wife and i decided to go on this trip we had some talks with Terah about the safari trip and got good info.
Tuesday june 14 we've been picked up by the cabdriver who took us to Mombasa, there we waited on the van with our tourgide and the other safaritrippers.
After we left Mombasa i got to see already a lot of the couintry wich i very much enjoyed. On our way to Tsavo we had a small rest for refreshing a bit and to look for souvenirs for who liked to buy something.
From the moment we arrived a Tsavo we could see right away the first animals, mostly elephants.
Realy what a special moment it was to see them in he wild natural enviroment in stead of seeing them in a zoo. After a couple of hours we arrived at the lodge where we spend the night at had a lunch and some time for R and R. The trip continued in the afternoon and it was only beautiful , the land, the scenery and all the wildlife we got to see.
At the end of our first day the guide got a phone call from another guiide who had spotted a group of lions, so as fast as he could he took us overthere. Wauw!!!! what a great experience was that to see this group so close to the van. I think they were so close to the van that i almost could touch them. This was the best experience i had that day. Now it was time to leave and go back to the lodge for diner and sleep,,, this we all really needed.
Day 2 , june 15. We had to wake up early for breakfast and left the lodge after that. The day started chilly but i did not even care about that, i was so excited about everything .So we all got in the van and started our second day. While we were driving and try to spot wildlife Julius our guide saw more then we even could see.He is a man who was seeing things we even didn't see and pointed us on that various times, i thank him for that. Also on the second day we got to see lions and even a couple of cheetah~s. OMG what a good decision to go on this trip it was worth to invest the time and some money in this, i realy can say this from the bottem of my heart! The trip went on for a few more hours and so we reached the end of the park. On our way back to Mombasa we made a last stop for some food and drink, after this stop the thought of the safari stayed in my mind. When we reached Mombasa our cabdriver was already there waiting for my wife and me and he brought us back home to Mwtapa... For all i can say : This was great and a beautiful, will do it again in the future, and for the people who are thinking of taking a safari i can only say DO IT, you wont regret!!!!.

Special thanks to Maureen , Terah, if we didn't know you we probally did niot go on this trip. And Julius thanks for showing us the beautifull park and pointing us at interesting things.
Also special thanks to my wife, without you i would not have enjoyed it so much as i did!! Asante Sana

A Trip of a Lifetime - thanks to Kay Adventure Tours
5/5

I am so grateful that we found Kay Adventure Tours on line. It was a bit of a leap of faith to plan such an extensive trip based on reviews only and no personal recommendations. Kay Adventure Tours exceeded expectations both before and during our amazing tour of Kenya and Tanzania. Our tour consultant, Moureen, was courteous, prompt and responsive in shaping a fabulous holiday from start to finish. She put together 3 - 4 itineraries for us; differing in number of days, location of stops and accommodations and helped us design the perfect tour for us. Moureen was also readily available throughout our tour to clarify details and address minor challenges - including the fact that my luggage did not arrive on the airline. I am ever so grateful that she was able to connect with the airline such that my luggage arrived the evening before we embarked on safari.
We had 2 amazing safari guides - Samwel in Kenya and Estommy in Tanzania. Both were very knowledgeable of the parks, geography, and were a wealth of information on the animals, birds and vegetation. They were professional, personable, courteous and fun and went out of their way to ensure we experienced the wildlife in an up close and personal way. From leopards with a fresh kill, to a male lion marking our jeep and picnicking with 2 elephants within very close vicinity. We saw the BIG 5 (repeatedly) as well as the UGLY 5! Samwel and Estommy also appeared to be well connected with the other safari guide drivers as they shared sightings. This is essential as the area is so vast.
We stayed in a variety of accommodations - from 5 star to more humble - all of which were sourced out by Moureen and approved by us before we left. On two occasions the accommodations had to be altered and, each time, we were upgraded. Without exception, the staff and service in all of the lodges and resorts we stayed in were exceptional. Most often the food was delicious and always abundant. They were able to cater to the dietary needs of 2 of our travel companions.
Finally, I would highly recommend traveling to Kenya and Tanzania in January! The crowds were reduced as it was not high season and as a result, we did not have to wait in line to enter parks, obtain visa entry, or to receive service anywhere! The weather was incredible - it was not stifling hot until we reached Zanzibar which is exactly what we wanted for the beach portion of our tour. On safari we were not jockeying with a multitude of other jeeps to gain visual access to the wildlife. And big bonus - very few bugs!
A huge thank you to Kay Adventure Tours - Moureen, Samwell and Estommy. Your efforts and professionalism made this a trip of a lifetime full of great memories and fabulous photos!

Exceptional professional service w/ a personal touch.
5/5

Maureen provided exceptional assistance while planning our safari to Kenya and Tanzania. She offered suggestions and modified details as she learned our groups’ expectations. Maureen was available at short notice before and during the trip. She exuded warmth and professionalism while ensuring all our needs were met.
Once we arrived in Kenya she continued to ensure all details were as stated on the itinerary or improved upon them. She was available by email and telephone throughout our trip, if needed, and handled any minor, local hiccups immediately.
Our drivers/guides, Samwel, Estommy, and Sami from the Masai Mara Balloon Safari, were expert at finding game, full of info about wildlife, birds, and the terrain, as well as courteous and funny. They made our trip outstanding and helped us capture some hauntingly beautiful memories and photos.
Ignore the guide books’ advice to go to the Serengeti and Masai Mara in the summer and fall and go in January when the the tourists are few, the bugs are fewer, and the animals are abundant. We often were the sole Jeep watching lions and elephants nearby while picnicking under an acacia tree. When we joined other groups to witness a leopard w/ a kill we were only one of a few jeeps, not the hordes that descend on these scenes in high season. Saw the Big 5, the Ugly 5 and thankfully, not all of the Small 5, plus many more animals we dreamed of encountering.
I highly recommend Kay Adventure Tours to all who have dreamed of an African adventure where the only surprises are in the numbers and variety of wild animals you encounter.

The most incredible trip we've EVER been on!!
5/5

I was so incredibly fortunate to find Kay Adventure Tours on safaribookings.com and let me tell you, our trip to Africa was one of the best we’ve ever had! We went on a trip to Kenya, Tanzania & Rwanda and everything single transfer, driver, transition was so incredibly smooth. We even saw the Big 5 all in one day! And the gorilla trekking was absolutely amazing! Moureen was an absolute pleasure to work with and she always made sure to keep in contact with us periodically during our trip so we never felt like we didn’t know the plan. We can’t thank you enough, Kay Adventure Tours for making our dream honeymoon a reality!

A dream trip to Tsavo and Amboseli - worth every cent!
5/5

Thank you Kay Adventure Tours - my trip to Tsavo and Amboseli could not have been better! Moureen was wonderful in helping me to personalise my tour and my guide Alpha was excellent! He was friendly, punctual, an excellent driver, had a fantastic sense of humour and an amazing eye for wildlife. We saw more than other groups in the same area due to Alpha's excellent spotting abilities (though we did send others back to see everything where possible). Alpha knew all the guides and rangers so we received excellent up to date tips too! We saw the most amazing birds, lizards, antelope, elephants, zebras, buffalo, hippos and others - plus prides of lions, a leopard with a kill up a tree and my favourite, hyenas (which Alpha took me to twice as he knew how much I loved them). The accommodation and food were also excellent (amazing views!). I would highly recommend Kay Adventure Tours!

Fantastic tour (and engagement!)
5/5

We had a fantastic 4 day trip (Tsavo East, West, Amboseli). Daniel was an excellent guide and driver - very helpful and went out of his way to find the best wildlife, driving back into a park after we'd left on the rumour of a lion! He even helped my (now) fiance secretly plan our engagement - giving advice on the best hotel and where to buy champagne!
Very nice hotels - even better than we anticipated - and the van was kept in pristine condition.

Great safari and great driver

All was what we expected. Roads are really rough. Be prepared. Was expecting long but that rough was a bit of a surprise.
Our driver did very good.

The trip was really a great experience for the whole family
4/5

The guide was very polite and helpful, and he worked hard to give us good chances to view the animals. When something happened, he was quick and clever to solve the problems, and we felt very safe with him. The accommodations were very good and gave us the right atmosphere being in Kenya and visiting the amazing natural parks with the abundant amount of animals.
We were also very satisfied with the Tanzanian guide and the adventures in Serengeti and Ngorongoro, and the accommodations and very friendly people we met during our journey.
Perhaps the distance to be travelled from Masai Mara to Serengeti, along very bumpy roads, was a little undercommunicated. But it was also a chance to see more of the East African countryside and an interesting border city crowded with people.
The title reflect our overall feelings - the trip was a great success for us and we wish to thank you all in the Kay Adventure Tours and wish you all the well for the future.
