Jungle Safaris made my safari unforgettable!
5/5

I spent four fantastic days with Jungle Safaris Ltd. during a visit in Uganda. A short safari one may think although those four days came to give me some of my most treasured memories.

My guide Paul met up with me in Masaka where I was staying during my visit and we started our journey towards Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. This is a long ride south west but going through high peaks and valleys with nature not seen anywhere makes it a lot shorter and totally worth the "African massage" you experience on some of the smaller roads leading into the forest base.
We arrived in Buhoma, close to headquarters of the park, late in the afternoon checking in to Buhoma community bandas.

After dinner with Paul, tired from all the impressions, I went to bed early to be rested for tomorrows adventure, meeting wild mountain gorillas...

There was an early start at the head quarters getting briefed about how to and not to act during our track into the forest. Feeling the exitement rise (really, really rise) we sat off into the forest. After about two hours we encountered the Rushegura family and had the luxury of spending one hour amongst these amazing creatures. I told Paul afterwords that the feeling of meeting these our relatives is so hard to explain, you just have to experience it. The thought of having gorilla babies playing by my feet can still make me giggle and feel all warm inside.

After a shower in my outside-in-nature bathroom (just lovely) Paul took me on a forest walk in what it seemed, almost untouched nature.

Being the person that I am I later found myself get caught up having a beer together with some of the elderly men of the community discussing all kinds of topics from our different point of views.

Paul and I then had dinner while watching the moon rise above the forest edge and after a great sleep, mainly dreaming about gorillas, we departed for Queen Elisabeth National Park.

Along the way, as Paul being an ornitologist, I got the chance to be shown a lot of birds, species not existing in my part of the world. During a short stop I also got the opportunity to see hundreds, problaby thousands of beautiful butterflies in different colours and sizes all gathered up close to a small pond along the road. During this one day I had a close encounter with elephants, buffalos, hippos and various antelopes. I also made a boat ride on the Kazinga channel seing hippos, lions, more elephants and buffalos, crocodiles and many more birds and also passing a local fishing community. Moving into the mainland, standing on top of the boat, I felt as the most free woman in the world, and as one with the environment somehow.

We had dinner at Mweya Lodge which I still tell everyone, including Paul, was the best dinner I have ever had. Sitting outside on a cliff listening to the savannah sounds, the animals down the water hole somehow does that...
The morning after we departed during sunrise and it is true, there is hardly anything more beautiful than a African sunrise. A morning game drive was made which ended with breakfast with view overlooking a saltlake.
After a drive through luscious teaplantations and again, nature not seen anywhere, I found myself suddenly back in Masaka, back in reality...

Imagine experiencing all this in only four short days!? Together with Paul, who is truly a fantastic guide, I had the most amazing time that I will remember and treasure for the rest of my life!

A truly magical few weeks brought to life by an exceptional guide with an extraordinary knowledge
5/5

The time we spent in Uganda with Paul was truly some of the best we have encountered in our extensive travels of the world. From the initial planning stages to the last day of the trip, nothing was too much trouble. Paul listened to what we wanted, understood and found it. During the trip he demonstrated an incredible level of knowledge of the land, its people and its flora and forna, constantly adapting our trip seamlessly in the face of the unpredictable nature of this beautiful country. Truly an exceptional experience, we would never travel again to East Africa with anyone else.

This was an incredible experience from start to finish -- all 10 days were packed full of adventure!
5/5

Paul Tamwenya was our guide, and Paul was instrumental in making this an adventure of a lifetime! Our family of 10 persons (4 adults and 6 children) spent 10 days touring Uganda -- and we all loved every day and every activity organized by Paul. The accommodations were safe and clean with delicious food, the vehicle was excellent, and Paul brought us to the best possible places in Uganda for sightseeing! This included an exciting day with mountain gorillas and a separate visit to chimpanzees in a state park. We loved Uganda and we are grateful to Paul for making this an incredible holiday that we will always remember!

Paul guided my daughter Christina and I on a 10 day adventure in Uganda which included climbing to see the gorillas. We experienced a trip of a lifetime. Paul took us to see and do things that the average traveller does not get to see and do. He is professional, fun, considerate, great problem solver and even waved his magic wand to make a black mamba appear so I could take pictures for our grandson. Enjoy your trip with Jungle Safaris. You will have a great adventure.

Comprehensive knowledge of and access to Uganda's cultural, historical and wildlife treasures.
5/5

Jungle safaris knows Uganda inside and out. Their tailor-made trip for me delivered what was promised and more. From the well known national parks to the off-the-beaten path villages; from north to south and east to west; from the mountains to the cities, they had no trouble taking me to the places I wanted to visit and arranging accommodations and meals to fit my requests. Competent and friendly driver and guide made my journey very memorable. And they showed great sensitivity to their very diverse clientele's backgrounds (language, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, beliefs, etc.)

Perfect Ugandan Adventure
5/5

We were two families of 10 people who used Jungle Safaris to tour Uganda. We had a fantastic adventure with a variety of experiences. We went to several national parks and saw animals including zebras, elephants, chimpanzees and mountain gorillas. The tour was professionally handled, and our tour guide was knowledgeable, accommodating and a pleasure to get to know. I would recommend Jungle Safaris to anyone who wants to experience all the beauty that Uganda has to offer.

An incredible experience on an expertly arranged itinerary.
5/5

As bird and animal lovers (and photographers of such creatures), my wife and I had the trip of a lifetime. The two of us enjoyed every moment of our week-and-a-half journey; and all accommodations and table fare more than met our needs. The highest of accolades must be paid our driver-guide, Paul Tamwenya. His expertise (and extremely good eye) provided us the viewing opportunities we had hoped for. My Nikon and I were quite busy the entire trip. Excellent bird photos, and adding to those were the Chimpanzees and Gorillas - just a fantastic journey on the savannahs and in the jungles of Africa. Loved it.

Knowledgeable guide and great tour.
5/5

I did the same tour twice with family and booked it a third time for a group of friends from overseas. Paul was very knowledgeable and his tour was excellent. We saw what we wanted to see, the vehicle was clean and comfortable, and it was great value for money. I would book others tours through this company again. Thank you for a great experience!

Paul Tamwenya arranged a fantastic trip for us with fantastic birds and gorillas as promised.
5/5

My trip with Paul was actually organised through an earlier company that he operated but he did all the work, planning and delivery of the end product. This review is as much about the man, Paul Tamwenya rather than the company. He delivered what was promised, was a reliable operator and the financial side was all seamless and uncomplicated.
His vehicle was clean, reliable and comfortable. His abilities as a bird guide were excellent and more than satisfied our demands. We were an eclectic group consisting of myself (56yo), wife and mother-in-law (80yo). Paul managed the dynamics very well and we had very few problems indeed. We saw everything we wanted to and our interests were quite varied rather than being solely birds.
Our 15 days safari was very much off the template and the outcome was more than satisfactory. I have no hesitation in recommending Paul's services to anyone looking for a reliable, honest and capable bird guide for Uganda in particular but I am sure he is more than capable of operating in other parts of East and Central Africa.
I am planning a return to Uganda in the near future and it is my intention to try and use Paul again.
