Very responsive agency and flexible on dates
5/5

Footslopes have been very responsive in emails and whatsapp. They are an agency that puts groups together and that has been a great experience because we met lovely people and the timing works for the 3 separate groups that we had. (5 of us) The arrangements included airport transfers, accommodation for the night before and the last night which we found to be very helpful in terms of having it all being taken care of. We opted for a budget package and were put up at Venice Hotel, clean, close to market and friendly staff.

Eric from footslopes was very friendly at the pickup and also was accommodating on the questions we had around the safari. He was also easily contactable via whatsapp/email and responded very quickly. The guide and cook were very good and we started our days on time and very early to make most of each day. Thomas, our guide, was also a very careful driver and very aware of park rules. He is also amazing at spotting animals from afar, almost like having bionic eyes!

As we were on our honeymoon, we were pleasantly surprised by being put up at a lodge at the end of our trip. A very kind and generous arrangement by Eric. It was a much welcomed gesture after a few days of camping. (Also first time camping since high school!)

One thing to be aware of is the payment arrangements culture where it is all settled upfront. (For Park fee payments, supplies, etc). Coming from an environment where payment is made in stages or when services have been received, it was something to get used to. Eric did a good job reassuring us and it was all hakuna matata after all.

4-Day-Safari
5/5

+ Tangire National Park, Ngorongoro Crater, Serengeti Park: all worth seeing!!!
+ good accomodation
+ on time (which is not status quo) in Tanzania
+ Guide did a good job (Big 5, ...)
+ Cook did a good job: partly african food, partly european (e.g. spagetti) with an african touch

- mattress and sleeping bags were VERY used and partly disgusting !!!

Advice customers: You'll need more than an inlay sleeping bag for ngorongoro Crater (over 2000m above sea level on the rim, where you will spend the night)
Adive for Foot Slope: a camping mat is cheap and definitely more hygienic since you can wipe it quickly with something to clean it.

I would book Foot Slopes again and I will recommend it! BUT with an own sleeping bag :)

Amazing experience! Safe and fun!
5/5

It was fantastic we were picked up at the airport, all accommodations taken care of, and brought back to the airport. All questions were answered quickly and I even forgot my IPod in the Safari vehicle and they mailed it back to me.

Flexible and professional
5/5

- Really easy to communicate prior the trip (WhatsApp, e-mail etc)
- Great and professional safari guides - and the best addition is that they also have common dinner with you in the evenings and chat about Tanzania, history, politics, nature etc.
- Normal price compared to other safari providers
- Tasty food
- Good cars
- Flexible - if you decide during the trip that you'd like to extend the safari for more days, all is possible

Fabulous time spent on the Serengeti with Nixon et al.
5/5

The four(4)day safari was fabulous. Communications were excellent and all expectations were met including being picked up at the airport, staying at a hotel in Arusha before and after the trip, to spending lots of time touring and seeing the animals. The food and accommodations were outstanding and Nixon, our safari tour guide, was attentive and knowledgeable. Although it was the beginning of the rainy season we had amazing weather, no rain.
All in all, a very enjoyable time was had by all!

Hands down, the best travel experience!
5/5

My partner and I chose the 8 day Amazing Northern Tanzania. Could not be happier with our experience!
We have traveled a lot of the world and Europe, and this Tanzanian experience was by far the BEST travel experience we have both ever had. We camped most nights, yet Foot Slopes threw a few nights in a cabin and hotel as a bit of a surprise to us.

Camping in the Serengeti was an unforgettable experience. Thanks to Anwa (our guide) and Freddie (our chef) for taking such good care of us at all times. Anwa went above and beyond to ensure we saw the big 5, the best views, and as many animals as possible big or small. Anwa was extremely knowledgeable. You just need to do this tour! There are no words.

Freddie served us amazing food breakfast, lunch and dinner. So so delicious. I especially looked forward to the soup each night for entree. Best soup I’ve ever tasted!!

Both Anwa and Freddie are fantastic communicators and this experience was beyond anything we could ever expected in the best way. The Tanzanian scenery is simply breathtaking, and our tour were in complete awe of the animals and how close we were to them.

Thank you Foot Slopes, Anwa and Freddie for taking such good care of us! You guys are legends!!

full of amazing experiences
5/5

Generally everything went to plan. Foot Slopes Tours & Safaris were prompt to reply to emails before the safari and very helpful while in Arusha. Our driver and guide, Kindu, was polite, helpful and knowledgeable. Our accommodation was comfortable and the food was tasty. Even when we were help up in Ngorongoro with a torrential downpour the experience was amazing. If I had made list before I came, all the boxes would have been ticked. It does pay to remember that it is Africa, relax and enjoy and keep a sense of humour.
They were extremely helpful with some of my other failed travel arrangements, sorted out my new bus ticket.
Great job.

Fantastic 5 day camping safari with an excellent guide!
5/5

Our group of 6 --> Footslopes tour: Lake Manyara, Serengeti, Ngorongoro, and Arusha National Park 5 day safari.

The BEST part about this tour was our guide Nixon. I had seen his name mentioned in the tripadvisor reviews but you have to truly meet the man to appreciate his awesomeness. He was full of energy and truly loves his job as a safari guide. Beyond studying wildlife management at university, he is planning to get more training as a safari guide in a summer course to be, in his words, “even better.” He has the eagle eyes required for a guide, is attentive to his clients’ needs, and a warm heart. When I asked him why he chose Footslopes, he said a big reason is that the manager Gabriel is “a good man”. A company where the staff respect each other is sure to provide excellent service, which is what we got!

Highlights:

Comprehensive customer service -
1. Whatsapp messages and emails were replied to within 1 hour. I don't know how they did this, but someone must be always working in the office. My friends from Hong Kong said they also had rapid replies.
2. We got a complimentary pick up by the manager Gabriel and driver Nixon from Haidom, a small town very far from their office from Arusha, where we were doing some medical work. This was included in our safari price, as was a separate airport pickup for one of our party. They also dropped us off at the airport the day after our safari ended and we were all staying in different places. AMAZING.
3. Our cook Rama met my special request and made chapati, a roti-style pancake, on our last day which was delicious!

Competitive pricing -
I had done some field research and asked about 5 other companies for quotes for similar itineraries and Footslopes was by far the most competitive. I learned that it was because they own their own gear, so prices can be quite low for camping. The main office has 10 desk employees, excluding the field operators.

Fabulous itinerary
Totally worth it for 5 days, as each park features slightly different animal viewings. Of course, this is nature, not an enclave! But we saw very different things in each park, including lions hunting and feeding, tree sleeping lions, flocks of flamingos, and of course the hugely entertaining baboons.

Lodging Notes:
1st night at a tented lodge - the tent was comparable in size to our camping tents, with slatted beds. The beds were not my favorite but the view of Lake Manyara was stunning. Also entertaining after dinner show.
2nd night - camping at the Serengeti Nyambi site. There were hyenas at night, a bright full moon and a beautiful sunrise/sunset. SUPER COOL experience. Cold showers + toilets on site.
3rd night - camping at Ngorongoro Hills Simba A site. African buffaloes at night grazing next to our tents, an even larger moon over the mountains, and lukewarm showers.
4th night - a hotel in Arusha (?!?!?!?!) I didn’t realize this was included but the Venice hotel was FABULOUS and the best place I stayed in Tanzania. Really updated interiors, nicely designed mosquito net, new showers with plenty of hot water. The dinner was slow to come out (we missed our camping cook Rama!).

TL:DR;
Safari of the amazing East African wildlife with an BEYOND amazing company and staff. I strongly recommend Footslopes!
