Fantastic Company, Beautiful people, Amazing experience - 10 out of 10
5/5

The most difficult decision was which Company to choose for our safari as there are so many Companies out there it is quite a minefield. Our decision was based on the Company being based in Botswana for local knowledge, registered with the Botswana Tourism Authority, their ability to fit in with our time frames, adaptability, reviews and speed of response.
We chose Kalahari Breeze and couldn’t have been happier with our choice! Kalahari Breeze is also not only locally owned and operated but also the money goes back to the communities to help sustain the local people and economy which was another plus for us
Maria, my contact answered every question I had with almost immediate response and was happy to accommodate any changes to their suggested itineraries to suit our own. Chris who is one of the owners and operators met us in Maun to make sure everything was going to plan and that we had had no problems or issues. This was a lovely personal touch which showed how much he cared about and valued his clients.
He is in constant contact with his staff to ensure everything goes smoothly and according to plan and to deal with any issues that may arise. The only small issue we experience was dealt with swiftly and smoothly by Chris and in no way deterred from our experience.
We were given a comprehensive itinerary prior to our arrival with detailed information of our trip including the accommodations, safaris etc. We had no issues at all with being met at the places specified at the times stated from pick-up at Victoria Falls airport to drop-off in Maun 11 days later.
Everything was well managed and we have absolutely no complaints at all. Everyone we dealt with were very helpful and such lovely people. Where we stayed, where we went and what we saw was amazing. Our expectations were exceeded
Our itinerary followed Vic falls, Chobe, Savuti, Moremi, and the Okavango.
Our guide Kaiser was fantastic with so much knowledge and experience. He was so diligent in his task as guide and driver and never gave up until he had found the animals we wanted to see. As well as a impala, water buffalo, giraffe, elephants and zebra we saw Hippos, wild dogs, hyena as well as 3 prides of lions and a leopard due to Kaiser’s tireless search!
We had the most amazing time especially on the 4 night mobile safari. Camping out in the wild was one of the most exhilarating experiences I have had and we felt extremely safe in the capable hands of Kaiser and George although there were Elephants, hyena and wild dogs wandering through the camp as well as the lions on the doorstep!!
We had also organised a self-drive safari through Namibia and had thought of doing the same through Botswana but so glad we didn’t. The roads are deep with few sign posts and many different dirt roads to follow (whereas in places like Etosha there are set routes and off-road is not allowed) therefore the likelihood of not only getting lost but driving around all day and not seeing anything is HUGE. Therefore we would certainly advise a guided safari in Botswana to get the most out of this amazing country and without a doubt recommend Kalahari Breeze to do this for you!!
Kalahari Breeze also organise self-drive Safaris in Namibia which we didn’t realise at the time but next time would definitely look at them to help us with this too.
Can’t recommend these Guys highly enough!

Perfect way to experience the Okovango Delta
5/5

We booked our honeymoon (3 day wild camping in the Delta) with Kalahari Breeze in 2020, and finally managed to go because of how accommodating they were with COVID. We cannot recommend this highly enough - Maria and Chris are an incredible team, who clearly know exactly what travellers like us need/hope for on a trip like this, and were just wonderful hosts - communication before & during the trip was excellent. Once there, they work directly with the local community organisation to employ the mokoro polers and field guides who make the tour so fantastic, which was wonderful because you know you are directly supporting local people. KB, our guide, was superb - knew every bird/animal/plant we came across with fascinating information about each. The food cooked over an open flame was skillful and excellent, and our camp manager Richard ensured we were more comfortable than we'd thought possible! The beds, en-suite tents(!) and shady gazebo for meals were the perfect backdrop to experiencing the dream of the Okovango Delta. We can't wait to book a trip for an anniversary, and will certainly book through Kalahari Breeze. Thank you again Maria, Chris and team!
Before the trip, we stayed in a Maun Lodge (queen room with river view and balcony), which was the perfect start and highly recommend it.

Wonderful game drives, good food, good talks with tour company
5/5

As a senior traveler (69) I was expecting some difficulty -- but a sense of adventure is required anywhere and I could not have been happier with everyone at Kalahari Breeze! The food was fantastic - I traveled with my son and his fiancee who are vegan, but I'm easy to please with anything and Kalahari chefs made superb meals in the bush! Garden Studio in Maun was also excellent, as well as the food the ladies made at Kubu Lodge in Kasane and the chef at Masuwe Lodge, Victoria Falls.

Returning to Maun and Garden Studio after two different tent camping "chapters" (Mokoro and Moreni Game Reserve) was refreshing. Best parts of this trip were learning that the company that Chris and Maria started support many local people; good discussions about water and politics in this part of Africa, and the future of wildlife here.

Botswana appears to have taken a different path than other countries in wanting to preserve its wild areas. The animals here are 'business partners' not hunting trophies. I was pleased to read that Chief Moremi's wife was responsible in 1963 for arranging the establishment of the Moremi Game Reserve.

I liked learning about the relationship between the animals and people who live here, from Clifford, Chris and Saba, who were all our guides in a way. The huge roar on the second night at Moremi was an announcement that our camp was in a male lion's territory, explained Clifford, who found his tracks about 100 yards away next morning. The lion is not interested in coming into your tent. Having said that, it's a good idea to not come out of the tent at night - bathrooms are attached to each sleeping tent! If you want a flush toilet at all times you will miss wonderful tent camping with Kalahari Breeze, and evenings around the camp fire. Other night visitors were a honey badger, hyena and a single wild dog.

I enjoyed Clifford's perceptions: The old elephant is just like an old man, nothing bothers him too much. (One little elephant trumpeted loudly at us and then ran behind his mother.) After seeing a pride of 3 lionesses and their 6 cubs (who were very thin) I realized that life is also hard for the lion, not just the impala, zebra and wildebeest.

And the elephant at Mokoro who grazes just feet away, breaking trees all night, isn't interested in you either, just those leaves at the top. Mr Saba built a fire to tell the elephant we were here, and the elephant left. No guns are allowed in Botswana, so the people and animals respect one another's territory.

The next chapter, as Clifford would say, was the move across the border to Zimbabwe (after 2 great nights at Kubu Lodge in Kasane, northern Botswana) and Masuwe Lodge in Victoria Falls. Again wonderful talks with Cassius the concessioner and some history of Zimbabwe. Beautiful cabins and a pool here as well. Don't be alarmed to see a gecko occasionally in your cabin. Viewing Victoria Falls was stunning - we were almost alone here - COVID has limited travel from everywhere and has been hard on the local economy.

This trip was somewhat challenging because of two separate COVID tests necessary to cross into Botswana and then into Zimbabwe, but this trip was safe, secure and enlightening. We saw many elephants, impalas, zebras, cape buffalo, giraffes, lions and hippos, as well as many birds. The waters of the Okavango Delta were free-flowing, clean, and cold -- like the Everglades, a flowing river spread wide. I took an excellent book about Africa with me and read it along the way: The Shadow of the Sun, by Ryszard Kapuscinski, a Polish journalist. Great read.

Highly recommended. Staff are professional and attentive
5/5

I would highly recommend this company.
I booked an extremely last minute one day mokoro trip in Maun. I was worried the reservation didn't go through but Chris contacted me to confirm my reservation within 10 minutes and kept me updated on the details of my outing leading up to the next morning. He arrived to pick me up from my hotel 15 minutes early and arranged his best tour guide to accompany me. It was a lovely day and the tour guide made sure to keep me entertained with botany facts and trinkets such as a necklace and hat that he wove out of lilies he plucked out of the water. The drivers were also committed to make my trip memorable and took a detour on the way back so I could visit a nice riverside bar. I would give this company 10/10 for customer service and professionalism.

Thank you for coming to our rescue and making our Botswana experience one we will always remember.
5/5

Thank you Maria and Kalahari Breeze Safaris for coming to our rescue, after our original trip with another operator was cancelled the day before departure.
What incredible memories you created for our trip through Botswana with the great choices of mobile camping spots, incredible game viewing: 3 leopards on one day, lions with cubs and painted dogs with pups on another, not to mention our memory cards full with elephants, giraffe, hippo, zebra, buffalo, wildebeest, warthogs and oh too many more to mention.
Our amazing driver and guide, Cliff, ensured our safe arrivals and even helped out those not so lucky in the deep sand. Our hats go off to Cliff and Maria for their knowledge, not to mention how they managed to find the crew and our camps in the bush...
Our camp crew was superb. They had everything ready on our arrivals, wet cloths upon return from our game drives, hot water for showers and washing and our cook Ogie provided wonderful and delicious meals each and every day off the campfire.
Our only regret is that our trip was not longer and that we had to say good bye too soon.
Thanks to everyone at Kalahari Breeze Safaris. Your attention to detail and true desire to ensure the best experience for your guests will make you our choice for our next trip to Botswana.

Brilliant Tour Operator
5/5

I have just completed a twelve day safari holiday in Botswana and Zimbabwe with the highlight being a mobile safari in the Okavanga Delta, Moremi and Savuti regions with the trip being organised by Kalahari Breeze.

The campsites were delightful, the tents very comfortable and the food delicious and this is before the expert walks and game drives that ensured that we saw more animals than we could have believed possible. The guides were very experienced in the terrain and animals and made us feel very safe.

All our dealings with Kalahari Breeze were first rate with them going out of their way to ensure that any question was answered and that we were always happy. Kalahari Breeze was able to advise on a range of safaris and build the itinerary around what we wanted to see and do.

I can recommend them unreservedly

Wonderful trip to the Okavango Delta and on to Victoria Falls
5/5

We did a private safari for 4 people through Botswana and to Victoria Falls with Kalahari Breeze Safaris. Had such a wonderful time!! The Kalahari Breeze team was very communicative and helpful in booking the trip. I had so many questions and ideas of what we might want to do, and they were so patient and knowledgeable in answering all of the questions! We ended up with such a unique experience of camping in the Okavango Delta, flights over the Delta and on to Kasane, and transport to Victoria Falls. We felt very well taken care of during the whole trip, and our guides and places where we stayed were always eager to help. Would happily book with them again!

Amazing experience
5/5

Our experience with Kalahari Breeze was extremely satisfying.
We decided to book the "three river safari" tour for our honeymoon with some customizations.
Maria, the owner, since the very first email was strictly focused on our needs by preparing a tailored package and providing us with continuous assistance, always being available and quick to respond to our doubts or on-going questions.
The staff is highly qualified and always pleasant in explaining the ecosystem with specific focus on habits and characteristics of the wide range of animals we had the opportunity to see during the different safaris. Special mention to Thsidi, a thirty years old guide, very professional, friendly and devoted to his job.
We highly reccomend to visit Botswana by booking with local agencies such as Kalahari Breeze in order to reach the best price to quality ratio.

Flexible
5/5

My wife and I and a friend of ours visited Botswana for about 6 days. We loved Botswana and our time there. We booked our entire trip with Kalahari Breeze Safari. Maria was very helpful with adapting the tour to meet our interests and setting everything up ahead of time months in advance. She was very helpful working with our budget. We did a No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency Tour in Gaborone with Andy (very knowledgeable and friendly) and were in the capable hands of Chanda as a guide for much of the rest of our trip. We learned about the inhabitants and culture of Botswana. We hiked in the beautiful gorge of Goo Moremi, seeing baboons and learning about the history and natural beauty. We were awed at the beauty of the Khama Rhino Sanctuary, seeing loads of wildlife. We also experienced wildlife up close through a national park from a SUV. (Lots of bumpy sand roads to see these great animals, btw) We capped off our trip with an exhilarating Mokoro Boat trip and short hike in the Okovango Delta near Maun. We stayed in fantastic accommodations along the way, particularly Waterside Cottages, Maun Lodge and Goo Moremi Gorge Resort, which were all secured by KBS. It was a trip of a lifetime.
