It was great!
4/5

We were picked up promptly in Kampala and driven to Murchison. The stops and lunch along the way was great. Emma was very knowledgeable about Uganda and the animals in the park. The trip was exactly the right amount of time with as many activities in it that could fit! We saw lions and other animals that made it really fun. The car hand a pop up top which allowed for great viewing but lacked ac so sometimes it was a bit hot. Overall, great experience.

Great experience with a warm, friendly guide for a very reasonable price!
5/5

We found Buffalo Safari through a recommendation given by a friend who's lived in Uganda for a number of years. Couldn't have been happier with the experience we had, and given how reasonable the price is compared to many bigger tour operators in the country from our research (and in light of some of the horror stories we'd heard about some of the budget operators), we would happily recommend them to travelers looking for a fun trip!
We got a custom trip (put together by the very pleasant British owner at the last minute) to Queen Elizabeth National Park, Bwindi to see the Gorillas, and Lake Bunyonyi to round it off. Despite being a packed schedule, our brilliant guide always ensured we did everything planned, whilst giving us some flexibility to stay in some places a bit longer when we requested.
I've been on safaris/tours in 5 countries now and this is one of the best experiences I've had thus far - highly recommended!

Best Safari
5/5

What a safari! I've been on other ones before in Kenya, but this was my first in Uganda and we were advised to go to Murchison Falls National Park. Being on a strict budget our group was recommended Buffalo Safari Camps by friends. We met with the owner Tim in Jinja, and he was able to build us an individual safari. Without him we wouldn't have known where to start or where to visit, and he was really helpful in giving us friendly general advice about Uganda and the wildlife.

It was all simply organised for us, and at a good price, and our group spent 3 glorious days in the park where we saw lions, baby elephants and Giraffes. Accommodation was in the tents Buffalo Safari camps provided, which were clean and comfortable, and the locations were stunning, right on the river Nile. Our driver Emma and cook David, deserve special mention. They were such nice guys, easy to chat to, helpful, polite and very good at feeding us!

I would really recommend the Ziwa Safari park, where the Rhino's can be seen on the way into Murchison National Park. And although I was reluctant to do it initially, the boat ride to Murchison Waterfalls really made the trip, sipping beers as the sun go's down on the Nile was magical.

Couldn't have asked for more. Thanks alot, would love to come back soon!

Briljant in the details
5/5

I can wright a long review but let's get to the bone: from the climbing sun to the coming moon, BSC take cares of you and your wishes. With care of environment, a lot of British humor and much to show and see, BSC takes you on a trip that will last in your mind forever.

Great fun, a good budget safari option in a beautiful park
4/5

This is a really good option if you are on a budget. I did a trip with them to Kidepo NP and it was an amazing park and so much fun. Be aware that the trips leave from Kampala and so involve a lot of driving, but the vehicle is comfortable enough and also perfect for safaris as the roof raises up. The cooking was always very good and substantial, and our driver Rogers was great – he had some very long drive days and coped really well with it all. It was the cheapest option I could find to Kidepo and the 5-day trip means there is time for 2 game drives as well as the nature walk. I was very impressed with the drives as they lasted for about 5 or 6 hours each, so there was a lot of time to see many different animals! We were also the only car in the park which is very unusual in East Africa, but makes for a special experience.

They can handle any challenges
5/5

I had a wonderful time with Buffalo Safari Camps on a private trip to Kidepo. Rodgers (the driver/guide) and David (the cook) have great personalities and many stories and we had lively discussions which I thoroughly enjoyed. David is an excellent cook, and Rodgers a knowledgeable guide and highly experienced driver (a true Kidepo expert). My communications with the office were always promptly replied, and Tim helped me choose an itinerary that was best suited to me.

My trip was not without complications (including getting stuck in the mud, encountering a flooded road [becuase it was raining in Kenya, we were told], and two car breakdowns). NONE of the issues we had were caused in any way by the staff, nor the quality of their equipment/vehicle (the breakdowns were a consequence of the extremely bad roads which we were forced to travel for hundreds of km because of the flooded out road). The staff handled all of our problems extremely professionally. We all kept our spirits up, and ultimately made it to Kidepo and had a great time. I'm sure my safari ended up going over-budget because of the added fuel (due to re-routing around the flooded road), and extra food/accommodations in town, and ultimately an extra vehicle, but Buffalo Safari Camps did not even mention this as an issue.

I would highly recommend Buffalo Safari Camps to my family/friends. Not only do they provide high-quality service for a budget price, but also with them, you can rest assured that if anything goes wrong, they will know how to deal with it and you will be well taken care of!

Excellent choice of itinerary and delivery.....thanks Tim and the team
5/5

We'd been thinking about a safari for a while but decided to wait until our daughter was old enough to appreciate it - very glad we did. We spoke to Tim and told him what we'd like to experience and that was all we had to do!!! Tim advised us what, in his opinion, would be the most enjoyable for us and suggested how long we should spend in each destination. It worked out perfectly and each day felt like a new adventure with enough time to chill out but not so much that we felt like we should be doing something. I'd thoroughly recommend Buffalo Safaris to anyone that's thinking of seeing Uganda. Our guide Emmanual was very knowledgable friendly and keen to tell us about his country. Try the pineapples - they are amaaaaazing!!!!!

An epic and circular journey through Uganda
4/5

My 18 year old son and I went on a 17-day tailor-made trip with Buffalo Safari Camps, visiting Lake Bunyoni, Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, Lake Mutanda, Queen Elizabeth Park, Murchison Falls NP, Kidepo Valley and Sipi Falls. We also visited the Ik and Karamoja tribes.

Rogers our guide is well-liked wherever he goes and has a pleasing personality, and most importantly, a good ethical stance in regards to the wildlife. He lingers long enough for you to have great looks and photos, but not so long that the animals are hindered by our presence. He has a lot of knowledge of both the wildlife and finding his way around the crazy, dusty, bumpy and largely unmarked roads. Halfway through our tour we started bush camping, and our cook - David - joined us. Great with flavors, he was also an amiable presence. I think they are both talented, intelligent and right-minded men.

I will be dreaming of giraffes, hippos, elephants and lions for many months to come. And all of the gorgeous people of Uganda.

Fantastic Wildlife Watching Experience
5/5

Everything was well organised & ran seamlessly. Buffalo Safaris surpassed my expectations. A wonderfully rich and diverse wildlife watching experience whilst taking in the Pearl of Africa’s ever changing landscapes, cultural depth and magical skies. Felt very safe and looked after & the camps were very comfortable & the food was delicious.

I can it recommend the safari up to the Gorillas enough. It’s was a dream to see them & great to know that the eco tourism is conserving the region and its inhabitants for Uganda and the generations to come.

Thanks again Buffalo Safaris. This really was the trip of a lifetime.
