Absolutely magical stay at Selous Kinga Lodge - Asante sana!
We spent three days and four nights at Selous Kinga Lodge, and it was truly the highlight of our trip to Tanzania! The experience was unforgettable from the very beginning. We were picked up at our hotel in Dar es Salaam, and the team brought water for the long drive, snacks, and I even got a beautiful bouquet of flowers from Malik! 🥹 When we arrived at the lodge, everybody came to welcome us with warm smiles, a refreshing welcome drink, and a cool wet towel to help us recover from the heat. It was such a thoughtful and memorable start to our stay.
Our bungalow was stunning, beautifully designed and offering a breathtaking view over the Rufiji River. One evening at sunset, we even watched elephants pass by right in front of our terrace, which felt like something out of a dream. The playful monkeys around the lodge added so much charm to our stay, we love being close to animals, so this place felt like pure paradise!!
The staff at Selous Kinga Lodge was one of the biggest highlights. EVERY single person we met was genuinely friendly, warm, and attentive. Our room was cleaned perfectly every day, and the service was impeccable. The food was absolutely delicious, and as a vegan, I was impressed by how well they accommodated my diet, I truly enjoyed every meal! Also the lunch packs for the game drives were tasty, generous, and thoughtfully prepared.
What stood out most was how genuinely everyone cared about giving us a beautiful time. Throughout our entire stay, we felt that the staff went above and beyond in every possible way to make sure we were happy, comfortable, and enjoying every moment! That level of kindness and hospitality made our experience truly special. On our last day, all the staff came together, singing a song around us as they brought out a cake and a drink to say farewell. It was such a heartfelt, emotional surprise and truly the perfect ending to an already unforgettable stay.
Spending the evenings in the main bungalow was another lovely part of our stay. It has a cozy, homey atmosphere that makes you feel relaxed and completely at ease.
Leaving was honestly the hardest part. We were overwhelmed by the kindness of everyone working there and the beauty of the surroundings. Selous Kinga Lodge exceeded all our expectations and left us with memories we’ll cherish forever.
We are already dreaming of coming back. Thank you to the entire team for making our stay so special - you made our Tanzania trip truly unforgettable 🧡
ASANTE SANA!

it’s a 10 out of 10!
We spent three nights at Selous Kinga Lodge as part of a four-day safari, and it was truly an unforgettable experience—not only because of the stunning beauty of Nyerere National Park and the safari itself, but also thanks to the warm and caring service provided by the lodge.
We travelled from Dar es Salaam by car and returned by plane. After experiencing both options, we definitely recommend flying rather than driving in either direction. Flying is far more comfortable and saves a lot of time and energy, even if it comes at a higher cost.
My girlfriend and I felt incredibly comfortable at Selous Kinga Lodge. The lodge is nestled in nature, surrounded by monkeys (who don’t disturb you) and other wildlife. If you’re lucky, you may even see elephants passing nearby. Just imagine relaxing at your lodge and suddenly spotting these magnificent animals—it’s simply magical.
The food was perfect. My girlfriend is vegan, and she was really happy with the delicious and thoughtful plant-based options offered by the lodge.
A special thank you goes to our guides, Nick and Maliki, who accompanied us throughout all the safaris. They were knowledgeable, kind, and truly passionate about the park and its wildlife. The entire safari was conducted safely and respectfully, without disturbing the animals—we especially appreciated their choice not to get too close to them.
For us, it’s a 10 out of 10! We highly recommend Selous Kinga Lodge and will definitely return!

Absolutely amazing experience!
We cannot recommend the Selous Kinga Lodge enough! We booked the 4 day/3 night visit and everything was experience. They arranged everything perfectly, from the cab to the Zanzibar airport, to the flights, transportation, Game drive ... everything!
We were lucky to have been paired with Nixon as a Guide and Mathias as the driver for the majority of the stay and they were incredible! The way they knew the Game Reserve like the back of their hand, and took us off in areas where we didn't see other vehicles, but saw so much wildlife! Mathias was constantly on his radio, knowing where to take us to ensure we saw as much as we could! As we were ending our second game drive he asked me what I wanted to see more of and I said a Male Lion. Within minutes he brought us to a location where we were able to see an entire group of lions, including a male.
We did the hot springs (gorgeous!), boat safari (the island was relaxing and beautiful), the village tour (really resonated with us), and the Maasai Boma.
Additionally, back at the Lodge the accommodations were wonderful. The staff was so accommodating, ensuring the best service we could have imagined. The pool was refreshing, and our little bungalow was inviting and comfortable! What I do need to call out is the food!! Every meal was so delicious and we certainly never went hungry. We looked forward to each meal and seeing what the talented chef prepared. At night, when we would be ready to head from the main lodge to our bungalow, the staff guided us back.
Ezekiel, the manager of the lodge was so kind and ensured every detail was taken care of! It was so relaxing to know they had every last detail accounted for and we could just enjoy the experience!
We look forward to a return visit in the future when our son is old enough to come along and experience this amazing place!

Above and beyond service
We had an issue arriving in Tanzania with another tour company and had been left stranded at the airport. We made contact with Selous Kinga and their team went above and beyond to resolve and ensure we had a fantastic stay. All the team were so helpful and friendly and keen to ensure we had an amazing trip ….which we did. Nothing was too much trouble. The game drives were awesome, our driver Molee, guide Nixon and support team Saleh and Jackson were outstanding.
What srarted as a stressful experience at the airport ended up being a wonderful experience that we will treasure forever and we feel we made new friends. We hope to return in the future.

Lovely staff, great service and amazing scenery!
We booked the tour via Safaribookings with the Touroperator Honcho Dmc. We choose the 3-Day Coup D'œil of Selous Fly-in & Out from Zanzibar package with the Selous Kinga Lodge as our stay. Everything went smoothly and was well arranged. All of the drivers were on time and knew where we needed to go. There wasn't a time when we had to wait or wonder what was going to happen.
We had an amazing Safari and saw a lot of animals, unfortunately, we didn't see any lions or leopards, but this was already mentioned by our guide when we arrived as the vegetation had grown and it would be harder to find lions this way. Nevertheless, we had an amazing day. After a long day, we arrived at the Selous Kinga Lodge. We were warmly welcomed by the staff and were given cold wet towels to clean our faces, amazing! This was the beginning of an amazing stay.
The food we received was very good and fresh. We weren’t given a menu, so we didn’t know what we would receive, but we were pleasantly surprised every day. You can however mention your dietary restrictions and they will adhere to this.
The service we received was also very good and authentic. Everybody was so nice and helpful and we really enjoyed this the most. The swimming pool was also very clean and well-kept. The sunbeds had very nice thick cushions which felt luxurious. The man who cleaned the pool came many times to clean, which we appreciated. We also had an escort at night who would guide us to the place we needed to go to on the resort. Really nice touch!
Furthermore, the house/cabin we were staying in, was also very clean and well-kept. We were very happy with this room and also with the housekeeping service. The room was made sleep ready each night, we aren’t used to this, so very nice touch. The only thing that I can point out is that the water pressure was low, so the shower didn’t give a large amount of water however, we could shower with it and had nice warm water!
The lodge has WIFI, however when we visited the WIFI wasn’t working however, Daniel was so nice to provide us with his private mobile bundle so we could send some messages! Thank you for that!
For the monkey lovers, there are many different monkey species living in the trees at this lodge! You can see them close and make nice pictures of them.
All in all, I want to thank the staff of the Selous Kinga Lodge for providing us with an amazing stay! Thank you so much! We highly recommend others to come stay at this lodge as well.

Lovely bush setting, friendly and willing service
We chose this package because it offered a less commercialised experience than the famous game reserves further south and west. The lodge itself and our unit was charming and beautifully located overlooking the Rufigi River. The lodge staff could not have been more friendly or helpful. The chefs did wonders in the very limited space and the restricted access to ingredients at their disposal. Nixon, the lodge manager, went out of his way to give us as good an experience as possible. We had two game drives, two boat safaris, a bush walk and a village walk, and learned something from each of them. We very much enjoyed the experience of living in the bush and felt our original hopes had been fulfilled. After a 15 minute drive to the entrance to the reserve, we may have been unlucky in visiting immediately after heavy rains. The reserve was green and lush with lots of thick cover. As a result we saw fewer animals than we had expected. It is apparently the largest reserve in Tanzania, and it may be that there is just too much space for the animals to disappear into. For instance, there are allegedly 6000 elephants in the reserve but we did not see one. However, we came away with a good feeling about the product Kinga Lodge was offering and would encourage anyone to do the same.

Our Selous Kinga Lodge tour and stay was fantastic.
The staff at Selous Kinga Lodge were all very friendly. The service was fantastic, and food was great. We had a wonderful safari, our driver Ludovik was very knowledgable and knew exactly where we needed to go in the reserve for different animals. Altogether a fantastic experience and I would fully recommend to anyone. The reserve was beautiful.

Wonderful safari experience!
I don’t even know where to start. We went to Selous Kinga Lodge for our honeymoon and the very moment we arrived at the lodge we received the most unbelievable welcome from the whole team who had gathered to greet us. Not only are the people so kind and smiley and friendly, the lodge itself it so beautifully decorated. The main structure is just as pretty and comfortable as the photos show, and our room was actually really nice. We expected it to be more basic but it was again beautifully decorated, and made up superbly by the housekeeping staff every day. Power sockets, fans, hot water, spacious, and very clean. There was also a lovely clean swimming pool that was maintained constantly by Isa who did well to keep on top of all the falling leaves the monkeys caused. (Baboons everywhere!).
As for the activities, I mean we did two full day safaris and saw hundreds of animals. Lions, elephants, giraffes, buffalo, zebra, wilderbeast, hippo, crocodiles, baboons, warthogs, various types of deer, and a resting hyena. We also did a sunset boat safari on the lake and saw hippos, crocs, monitors and various birds all while watching the sun set on Africa. It was everything we had hoped to see when planning the trip. But aside from the views and animals, it was the people that really made it perfect. Our safari guide Nickson was just the nicest man. We spent two full days (and an evening) together and we couldn’t have envisaged a better guide. Extremely knowledgeable of all the wildlife and nature, and had a real sense for where the animals would be. Lions aren’t always easy to find and it wasn’t just by luck that we found them. Not only did Nickson have a good sense but unbelievable eyesight. But above all he is such a genuine and kind guy.
He wasn’t the only one. At the lodge Moana and Daniel were always always on hand with the biggest smiles and energy. Mathew and Amon did a walking safari and village tour on the last day and were very passionate, friendly, and knowledgeable too. (Watch out for Mathew’s dance moves through the day!) The chefs made actually super tasty meals. We weren’t sure what to expect but they were all really really good - and we are very fussy eaters! I mentioned the housekeeping kept on top of everything day and night, the drivers friendly, the security rangers were lovely and the grounds staff worked constantly to maintain the grounds and make it look tidy and inviting. But all of this doesn’t just happen by itself. The manager, Kenedy, has obviously done a lot of work behind the scenes to make everything and everyone come together to create what me and my wife both agreed was a five star experience. For tremendous value compared to everything else we looked at.
The tourism sector all around the world is still recovering from the effects and after effects of covid, and I can only imagine what it must have taken to keep things going. We booked this trip via Safaribookings.com and all of our contact beforehand was with Mohammed who I’m guessing manages all of the online side of things (also very lovely and helpful, and especially quick to reply via WhatsApp). If you are looking around and want to find that perfect African safari experience, I don’t think you could possibly find anything more perfect than the Selous Kinga Lodge!
