Johnnie Uganda Safaris is extremely the best!
5/5

If one is looking to go on a holiday (both within Kampala and the outskirts), look no further; Johnnie Uganda Safaris has got it all! They are a very professional company with timely and clear communication medium (website, email, calls, text message, whatsapp, name it) when they are coming up with itineraries, affordable pricing ,etc. They are able to customize the trips to suit customer preferences.(from nature lovers, bird watching , boat cruises, just name it ....)

The service is super excellent. I keep going on several excursions with Johnnie Safaris both with in and outside of town because they are simply excellent and very warm persons. My most recent one was this March and it was to the Griffin falls in Mabira..It was worth an adventure to go zip lining with a group of family members. Hiking within the forest and then zip lining on the canopies from one to another was exciting and different and then hiking back to picnic via the forest(since we had carried our food with us to the trip)...

I must say all I have to do is agree itinerary and make payment and sit back and enjoy the trip without any worries in the well serviced and maintained land cruisers. All the drivers are knowledgeable and experienced on the road..And oh Agnes, the female driver just has gifted hands ....very talented.

10-day wildlife safari in Uganda - birds, gorillas, chimpanzees, and more!
5/5

Birding in Paradise set up and executed a fantastic Uganda visit for my wife and me! From the first contact nearly a year before the trip, I knew that Johnnie and Agnes Kamugisha would be terrific hosts. They listened to my feedback on initial versions of their itineraries and they made sure that we would maximize our time there. While Johnnie is an elite bird guide, he knew that the first reason I wanted to visit Uganda was to see mountain gorillas. The itinerary worked birding around the gorillas, and we also worked in a day for chimpanzee trekking. The itinerary also included visits to Mabamba Swamp to see the mighty shoebill, Lake Mburo National Park to find African finfoot, Ruhija for mountain gorilla trekking and birding, and Queen Elizabeth National Park for more birding, looking for lions, and chimpanzee trekking. I knew Johnnie had amazing attention to detail when he met us at the airport and said he was tracking our flight status live so he could be there at the right time. The places we stayed, Lake Victoria View Guest House, Rwakobo Rock, Trekker's Tavern, and Bush Lodge were all perfect for our budget. The food was great, and each place took care to ensure we had a good experience. From Bush Lodge, our deck looked out to the Kazinga channel with elephants and hippos! Johnnie is, simply put, an incredible birder. He has an amazing ear, and he helped us spot, identify, and list 353 species of birds, something special for a 10-day trip. He also knows the mammals, reptiles, and amphibians one might encounter while birding. He drove us safely for 1,000s of kilometers around the country in a well-stocked 4x4, including a cool box, plenty of water, and a power outlet to charge all our gadgets. He always paid attention to what was happening with our activities to ensure we would have the best experience. All of this was done in a way that met our budget perfectly. I recommend Johnnie and Agnes unreservedly to plan your East Africa adventure!

If I hade to rate all services I was provided by Johnny safari Uganda it would be 9 out of 10. Everything promised on the tour was provided and extra service with a roasted goat offered to Jonny by the locals. That was such a great time great friends great moments. I will do it again. Fantastic trip to Kidepo Valley and Murchison Falls
5/5

We enjoyed our first trip with Johnnie so much that we booked this one 4 months later. Communications were a breeze, and emails were usually answered in one day, despite the 7 hour time difference. Personal service was excellent. Johnnie always ensured that our accommodations were satisfactory and remedied any deficiencies promptly. He was extremely attentive to detail and escorted my balanced-challenged husband on steps, over any rough pathways, and assisted our entry and exit from the vehicle. Upon departure he remained at the airport until we passed security, and even ran back to the vehicle to retrieve a wallet which was forgotten. We visited both Kenya and Uganda on this safari, and Johnnie accompanied us the entire 2.5 weeks, despite the fact that the Kenya portion was booked and guided through a different company. Many safari guides are excellent but few can match Johnnie’s expertise in the field. He even taught our Kenyan guide many new birds and helped all of us to see and hear them. In addition to the exciting day and night game drives we enjoyed a Nile River cruise. During down-time between game drives Johnnie and I went birding and picked up quite a few interesting new species. On our first safari with Johnnie in October 2018, we trekked gorillas and chimpanzees, and visited Kibale, Queen Elizabeth, Bwindi and Lake Mburo National Parks. This past February we covered Kidepo Valley and Murchison Falls. We fell in love with Uganda, and Johnnie’s safaris made that happen.

Cordial, experienced, attention to detail, amicable, adventurous, timely, humble, excellent.
5/5

Communications are timely, courteous, and spot on.
They do more than what they are paid to do. They do that which a tourist like me may not see but due to their experience they know it shall be great for me. personally they exceeded my expectations and set the bar so high that the experiences i had before on safari are paling in comparison to the Johnnie Uganda Safaris experience. they took so many memorable photos of me that i have become so popular and revered because of my trip with them. Johnie is so knowledgeable that by the time i came back from safari its like i knew so much about birds, mammals, there behavior, the myths about them, different language greetings and even had an insatiable appetite for safari. The meal places were amazing accommodation was unique, i did not have any food poisoning whatsoever, i felt safe in the wild and slept like a baby. i also got time to meditate and actualize myself on the trip.
They are really good at managing time!
i got to see lions which in some places are not easy to locate, i was so up-close it felt like in the movies.
when i returned from Safari i learned that others who had gone to "safari" had not had a tenth of my experience and all wanted to tour again- this time with Johnnie Uganda Safaris.
i am now referred to as "the domestic tourist".

The best birding in Uganda
5/5

Johnnie organised a special tour for us to visit little-known birding destinations Semuliki, , Kidepo and Pian Upe, as well as taking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest and Budongo Forest along the way. Johnnie goes out of his way to make sure his guests get excellent birding as well as taking care of us regarding accommodation, food and other amenities. Johnnie is great company and has a wealth of knowledge and experience to share on East African birding.

Uniquely Ugandan
5/5

All absolutely brilliant. When we were setting up the trip, we told Johnnie what we wanted to do, and he advised us well, because we had not really considered travel times. So we ended up with a fantastic trip seeing the places and most of the birds we wanted to, AND we had good days travelling between the places so that we also had time for some birding. Johnnie is a fantastic bird guide, and the local guides he used in the different areas were also great. Johnnie was really good at getting us onto the birds, and had much information on them. I thought it was wonderful he found me a location where I could see a Rhinoceros Viper, and that came from a chance comment of mine one evening. It was an amazing birding trip, and I loved the way Johnnie looked after us, and checked everything was OK, including finding the drinks we wanted (!), and collecting us from and dropping us off at the airport to ensure that everything was all right. He and his wife are marvelous company, and as well as a great wildlife experience, we had a really fun time. I am primarily a birder, but one of the good things about this trip was that Johnnie could also talk about and show us other animals - he's even co-authored a butterfly book! I loved being on a birding trip where other animals are important too. This was our second trip with Johnie - we enjoyed the first one so much, that we just had to come back.
